I uninstall the old app and installed the new. Everything seems to be working.

I also uninstalled again, and tested installing both logged out and logged in, and it worked both times. (uninstalling between)
I do not ever see an "install" button, and have never seen the video you mention.
But I know how to "add to home screen", so that's what I've been doing.

it really is CRAZY how differently this presents itself to different people on different platforms.

Because in their infinite wisdom, the folks at XenForo that created the software for this forum, decided it was better to use a generic interface that would allow the 10,000 different forums like SnoWest to all "Share" the same basic interface, but with a simple customized logo and URL.
