New engine brake-in

Howdy everyone. I've installed a brand new shortbock in my 04 Rev 800. Does anyone know the proper procedure for breaking one in?

Rip

Im sure you will find people with different answers.

I by no means am a certified mechanic or anything but I always use the "better safe than sorry method". For the 1st couple hundred miles I vaired my RPM's and never stayed in the throttle for a long period of time. I have always made sure to go through a wide range of RPMs and nothing eccessive for more than just a good rip. In all honesty I babied the **** out of it. I did this for the 1st couple hundred miles. Now, I ride the hell out of it and dont even think twice.

Im sure you will find some people on here who can throw out rpm's and exact miles and such but honestly you know if your running your sled hard so its up to you.

thanks for the Info. The one thing I'm not really sure of is. Do you or do you not need to add oil to the fuel. like a synthetic premix or something like that. I use a Klotz premix on my kids sled. Would that be ok to do maybe a 40:1 mix. Or is that to heavy?

Rip.

No synthetic during brakein piriod and 150/1 on oil gas mix first tank . Work your way up on the throtle with short burst and off ,by the time you are at the end of tank you can hold wide open for a small strech

Break in help....

How about a simple answer? Are you too busy to help? Is it too much for you to say?

GEEZ WTF are forums for? If your too lazy to answer the question dont blame the man for being to lazy to look it up.

Vary the throttle for the first two tanks of gas, dont hold a consistent rpm for long periods of time (2 min or less). Full throttle is ok, just only bursts. I always premix my fuel along with the injector during the first two tanks.
I am a certified mechanic and certified Bombardier. But that does not mean I am 100% correct. If your sled is going to break it will do it within those two tanks. Unless it starts off as a premature bearing failure, usually those take awhile.
I hope that helps. :D
