New Emergency Shelter Boulder Mtn. :)

As of last wknd. the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club has started to build our new emergency shelter on Boulder Mtn. We were able to get the machine up to make a trail to the site, found bedrock and cleared the area. Footings were dug on Mon. during a snow storm :face-icon-small-sho. This comming wknd. we will be framing, mixing cement and pouring footings.
I have attatched the e-mail sent out to club members if we have a current e-mail addy for you. Everyone is more that welcome to come on up and help. :face-icon-small-win
We are also looking for a couple of fallers to work on this Fri.
Thanks again Greg and Barb for all the work you have put into this project to get us to this point. :face-icon-small-hap

As you may be aware, we are ramping up on the construction of the new Cabin on Boulder Mtn. As of July 10th, the excavator has been up putting in the trail and clearing the new cabin site, he should be digging for the footings on July 12th. As you are well aware the club has taken on numerous parts of this project in order to make this happen within budget. The club will be required to volunteer time and manpower.
The first project the club is responsible for is the foundation and concrete work.
This part is labour intensive and we will require a pool of volunteers numbering 8 - 10 to frame, mix and pour footings. We do not have exact times and dates but very soon we will be in need of names.
Unfortunately we will sometimes be looking for volunteers on short notice so we are trying to compile a list of names which might be available to help out with this.
This is the largest portion of our committment along with flying in of materials to the site so if you can help out, please let us know your contact information and possible available schedule.
If you can help out in any way, any day, any time please contact me asap.

Thanks so much for your consideration

Work Party on Boulder on Sunday, July 18.

We need fallers (personal with power saw experience) to falling trees, liming and bucking).

Bring your saw, lunch, watter, bug repellant and of course a quad. If you don't have a quad, let Greg know and we can try to double you to the job site.

Anyone available during the week, Thursday and Friday would be more than welcome as well.

Me too, the cabin is 30x30 and the covered deck is 20x30. It is looking like the basement 30x50 will have a rock floor after we dig out the dirt. Basement will be used to store firewood and house S&R gear. We will be using the wood stove and cabinets from the existing cabin. When this new building is finished we have to remove the existing cabin. Lots of local club members who are contractors have come on board to help us out with machinery and skills for our portion of the build. :face-icon-small-hap
Without their help and volunteers we wouldn`t be able to make it happen within our budget.
The major portion of the build will be milled/constructed on Westside Rd. and flown up by our friends at Selkirk Mtn. Helicopters. I`m sure a lot of you have met those guys over the yrs. :face-icon-small-win

is this cabin going to replace the old one, or be there in addition to it?

This cabin will be replacing the old one.I think they are rebuilding because the old one flooded in the basement every year.It sure looks like the new one is going to be a nice one though.I can hardly wait to get up there and see it.
The count down is on,I hope to get my first ride of this season in by the middle of October or so.
Bring on the snow...:face-icon-small-hap

The trusses for the peak are yet to be installed! You can see them laying in front of the cabin on the ground in the aerial shot.
