new cylinders??

I pulled my 2012 SBA 800 apart cause I was low on compression and I have one cylinder that is scratched up and im not sure if it is going to be able to get fixed by honing. If it is not fixable ill have to buy new cylinders. anyone got any suggestions on what ones to get and which ones to stay away from? im going to be putting the Bikeman pistons "fix kit" in it.
Thanks.

Carls had a bunch of complete '14 take offs that include cylinder, head, and pistons. I think you have to get the upper case machined to fit the '14 on the '11 & '12 cases but have not confirmed that with the one I picked up.

Millenium technologies does cylinder exchange for like $400. Then just get a fix kit

Then your close to the 1000 bucks without the gusseting and matching and other things he is good at.

What I learned taking mine apart this season is Indy Dan knows what he is talking about lol.
My cylinders did not need replating but,,, after proper measuring, I found it was not true, not round and the factory chamfering ruined any chance of a proper chamfer.

If I need to do I again (runs fine though lol) I`ll send out the pistons with the jugs to get properly sized and ask to leave the final chamfering for me to do.
You could also save some time and effort and just get the set from Indy Dan`s. MO

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but I would stay away from BPM!
I read some where that some one ordered pistons and didn't even get the rings, really! In your post you asked who to stay away from and BMP was the first one to come to mind and then I read the last sentence! OK!

I would take the time and get ahold of Indy Dan, don't be put off if he is hard to get ahold of,he is busy and that's for good reason, if you are going to do the motor do it right!

That's my vote!

have the cylinder honed an checked for cracks by a reputable shop. not all scratched cylinders are so bad they can't be ran. nicasil is extremely hard and many times can be cleaned up and ran.
