new can, what to seal between can/pipe?

Get a tube of high temp silicone and put a layer of that on the connections. Works Great! Doesn't hurt to put some on the stretched part of the springs either. Keeps them from vibrating and breaking. Happy Riding! :beer;

can i put some on mine after the fact of putting them on and applying it around the joints? mine is spraying some black **** around my motor!

That might work but to get the best seal,you should take it apart and get the oil off the 2 surfaces.It's only a couple of springs.If you don't have a spring tool you can use a screwdriver or pair of pliers to remove the spring.Or just spend the $10-20 for a spring removal/install tool.;)

Or thread a strong piece of 3 to 4 foot nylon rope (old pull start rope works perfect) through the hook of the spring and pull with both hands.... works awesome!! and is easy to carry with you in your tool kit! :beer;
