New Build for this Season

So I'm starting a new build for this season. I've been super happy with my GYTR 2011 YZ build, the thing flat out rips. This season I'm starting with a 2018 YZ. It'll be nice to have the button. I'm curious to see how it measures up stock to the 11 with its GYTR CNC head and cams. If I can find a head for the 18 I will probably pull the trigger on that as its pretty hard to beat the package. I've ridden a bunch of YZ's with the CR intake and while they work great I'm just not sure I can deal with the obnoxious noise they put out. Has anybody come up with a decent non pod solution. It looks pretty tight in there in the airbox upon first inspection.

There are pod solutions that don't come all the way through the air filter cover, such as the one from C3. Users that report they didn't like the loud cr racing solution have said the c3 and similar intakes, that stay under the cover, work well and aren't too loud. I'll find out soon enough. Mine just shipped from c3. I'm also anxious to kit up the 2020 yz450f to see how it rips in snowbike form. From my few break in dirt rides, it seems pretty good (2020 received new head and hotter cams from the factory).

M5, fwiw, on my 2017fx I made a cage/pod like thing that fits in the air box without protruding thru the cover. I removed the stock filter assembly from the throttle body up. Gutted the box. Then I made a wire cage by looping (might have been copper wire) and soldering the ends to a collar/tube that would fit into the stock flexible elbow above the throttle body. I cut the stock flexible intake piece below the filter. As I recall replacing that piece was not much more $ than a silicone 45 degree elbow. The cage/pod was covered with a premade over pod type prefilter. I think it was like 3" diameter and 4" high. The cage was attached to the stock cut intake tube which was then reattached to the throttle body. The assemble fit neatly under the cover. I then put prefilter over the ends of the horns and drilled a few holes on the underside of horns and covered with prefilter. I left the bottom of air box open so snow could fall out and attempted to line the air box with prefilter as much as possible. That prefilter in the front of the box behind rads and frame is very helpful at keeping snow out. I used two sided tape in many locations to hold the prefilter and after 300 hrs still in place. Sounds like more work than it was. I rode in snow that caused everyone I was riding with to stop and clean intakes but my setup has been flawless, never even a hint of restriction. Also, I don't notice any noise related to the intake.
