So I should be getting a new blackberry in the mail today. Got the 8900 Curve. I had the flip one but I never put a data plan on it.

so what do I need to know? What apps should I be getting, etc.

google maps of course for navigation........

vlingo is a free app that allows you to speak into the blackberry and it will type whatever you say.....great for texting while driving. you just hold one of the side buttons and say what you want to do....like text, or search, or dial.... and then it will bring up that function and then you tell it what to search for on google or what to text and just hit send

another good gps app is blackstar

these are all free apps

8900 has voice nav but it's $9.99 month.
I had the phone for 25 days and then sent it back. No 3g, and slooow to load any app, or data. My wife's Iphone would go load 10 pages in the time it took the 8900 to load 1. Got the apple now.

Weather Eye
Google mobile app
Vlingo
Pandora
Flash Light

Some of the apps I use on a day to day basis! and they are all free

what's the blackstar?

its a gps app that i downloaded......from what i've used on it so far, it does pretty much everything my magellan does....

i needed to verify some speedo readings and thought about using the phone....for free, it's a decent gps app

If you have an unlimited data plan, Nobex Radio Companion is awesome. They stream radio stations from almost every part of North America and the world.

I found this trick for flashlight...change the video camera options so that video light is "on". Now anytime I hit the video camera, I get the light. I don't use the video camera for anything else, so it works well for me.

I got the Tour a couple months ago, love the apps, to many to list, I'll let ya know how it works out of the country, Leaving for the South Caribbean Sat. it's supposed to work great there.

If it is anything like the curve, I'd wear some safety goggles for a week or two. This will prevent you from scratching your eyeballs out when you are in a fit of rage cause the piece of s--- wont do what you want! (By the way after I learned to use it I love it!)

well they came in the mail yesterday, but since we are switching companies we have to wait up to 5 days for them to activate. Nothing like carrying around 2 phones just waiting:mad:

So I have it now and it's running. But when I log onto snowest half the time it won't scroll down to view all of the threads, what gives?

Just wait, it should eventually load. I'll be connected to snowest and surfing the forum in seconds with my Iphone. (Hahaha)
Kidding aside, I couldn't get the 8900 to consistantly sync up to the bluetooth in my car. Half the time it would do it, the other half it couldn't find the device and there wasn't any special sequence that would warrant it working. My iphone syncs up evertime, even if I'm in the house and Wifey pulls car into the garage the phone syncs up.
