New 23 chain and gears .

Anyone have any idea what the differences is between the 23 drive chain and last years I remember reading they changed the chain and I see there’s a different part number on chain , sprockets seems to carry the same part numbers over , planning on putting on a tki belt drive but was just curious to know what they did different

i just looked at the chain for a '22 and '23 turbo freeride 165 and it's the same part number. i know the chains/sprockets for the turbos are different (hyvo) than for the n/a sleds.

Ok may I got mixed up . I thought in one of the videos from brp they mentioned a new chain but I bet this is the reason the part numbers were of I probably didn’t compare to turbo

I have been told the 23 turbo chain and gears are the same as the N.A. sleds. A weaker chain, that is now mileage limited, though not sure on how many miles. But for those wanting more gear ratio options, they now have that

Where as the 22 turbo chain and gears are stronger and not limited mileage. Gear ratio options were limited, I believe.

Dont go by the part numbers. The helix has a new p/n and its still the st40.

It will say on the chaincase if it has hyvo or not. I highly doubt doo went away from the hyvo with a more powerful engine when they has sucess the last three seasons with it.

I do believe Rasmussen told me that the chain was beefed up as well…it’s possible that it didn’t happen for production but that was the word flying around last spring.

Definitely a different part number for chain first one is 23 turbo expert 2d 22 turbo expert
interesting. over on skidoopartsnation they're showing the same part number for both years. i entered in the differing part number in your post and it showed a bunch of sleds that use that chain so not sure.

Bumping what I've found, this other thread is also very educational (I've posted here as well): https://www.snowest.com/forum/threa...2023-gen-5-ski-doo-summit-sleds.463728/page-6

Hi - Figured I'd add in more real world examples to show that this is not an isolated event/ just 'forum rumors'. Although, I will say that the gen 5 turbo is a SWEET sled and the power/ride feel is awesome! But this weekend after chatting amongst a few of my immediate buddies, I can report:
  1. My buddies' 23' turbor chain blew up at 330 miles, stranded him in the Whistler backcountry and had to leave sled overnight. (No pics yet)
  2. I saw the issue and took apart my own chain case today on my 23 turbo r to find slight wear on the inside chain case. I'm at 200 miles
    • YAMI_CHAIN_WEAR.JPG
  3. My second buddy also took his 23' turbo r chain case apart to install the TKI solution today and had much more wear on the inside of his chain case, at 350 miles
    • TG_WEAR_1.JPEG TG_WEAR_2.JPEG
  4. We (along with 2 other 23' turbo r users who have not taken apart their cases) have all experienced the 'abnormal amount of tensioning' we need to do for our chains after each ride
Upon our chatter, I spent hours digging into this, between reading forums like this, facebook, and other outlets, it appears there are some common theories:
  1. The issue could be the two piece design on the drive axle, solved with TKI's solution: https://tkicnc.com/product/g5-chain-case-retainer-w-speed-sensor/
  2. As stated very early in this thread, the parts received (53 tooth sprocket, 21 tooth sprocket, and chain) do not line up with what the parts finder online says.
    1. According to the parts finder,
      1. The 53 tooth sprocket should be: 504153997
      2. The 21 tooth sprocket should be: 504154188
      3. The chain should be: 504153397
    2. What I actually have on my sled:
      1. 53 tooth sprocket: 504153998
        • YAMI_53_SPROCKET.JPG
      2. 21 tooth sprocket: 504153910
        • YAMI_21_SPROCKET.JPG
      3. Chain (mine also reads 'LB537' as caper11 called out on page 1. Although the part # is not stamped on it (or I could be blind..probably the latter)
        • YAMI_CHAIN.JPG

So my question would be, we can eliminate the slop TKI identified with the TKI solution, but if we do indeed have the non-HYVO spec sprockets/chains, do we replace with the items listed on the skidoo fiche? Or do we skip that, and go to something third party like the this: https://www.hotrodsledshop.com/skhygechkitf.html ? Ultimately, for me, the goal is to have piece of mind that my chain is not a ticking time failure that will happen while I'm out in the backcountry leaving my sled stranded and me two-upping back home...

I ordered the chain and gears from BRP using the part numbers given in an earlier post. supposed to arrive Friday and I’ll report what actually comes in.
the HRSS kits won’t have a 53 tooth bottom gear-I reached out to ask them.

also, post 92 in the “adjusting your chain thread…” has differing numbers for the hyvo stuff (which are the ones I used when ordering) than what you provided so who knows…

You're right. I included the wrong numbers in my 23' turbo r fiche list. They have two models on their fiche finder, i used the 51 tooth part number...

  1. According to the parts finder,
    1. The 53 tooth sprocket should be: 504153997 <<<Error I looked at the wrong 23' turbo model. The correct on the 23' turbo parts fiche is 504154167.This should match up with 21/22 summit x expert fiche part #
    2. The 21 tooth sprocket should be: 504153910 <<<Error I looked at the wrong 23' turbo model. The correct on the 23' turbo parts fiche is 504154188. This should match up with 21/22 summit x expert fiche part #
    3. The chain should be: 504153397 <<<Error I looked at the wrong 23' turbo model. The correct on the 23' turbo parts fiche is 504153759. This should match up with 21/22 summit x expert fiche part #

My 2023 154 Summit Turbo R sold in Sweden is equipped with an upper sprocket 504154567,. It has a sticker "Rexnord Aurora" on the cover.
Is this the same low quality?

Its stronger than ´22. And doesn't fit together with ´20-22 turbo chains and sprockets. Seems to be that in Europe some parts are different than in North America.
