New 2012 mounts in a 2011- motor still moving around

Murph... the Rubber (#19/21) and the sleeves act as a "limiter" for the actual mounts... like I said before... I'm more concerned with what the mounts ( #11,15,20) are doing... or not doing

The 2011's did NOT have the rubber isolators in them originally (see pic below)...
The Polaris fiche was updated to the new type with isolators in it.
The Polaris Parts fiche no longer shows the dwg for 2011 I have shown below.

Every bolt encountered was tight including the ones you pointed out-- with the POSSIBLE exception of mag side motor straps. I could reach PTO side bolts with motor installed, couldn't reach mag side. Did not remove engine when rubber sleeve clearance was observed.

However, when observing motor movement(engine not running) by hand, motor straps and motor move together.

2012 rubber mounts are observed moving within the sleeves on both mag side and PTO side-- with no deflection of rubber until it contacts the opposite side of the sleeve when it is moved. You can insert a .012" feeler gauge between the rubber and sleeve n the PTO rear side. PTO front-- the smallest of all the rubbers-- seems to be affected the least.

The 2011 Pro is now sitting at Thin Air Motorsports (great dealer) service dept awaiting word from Polaris on how to proceed.

Will keep you posted as I get more info.

i have a 2011 pro , about 770 miles.
after reading this thread, i noticed i can lift my primary almost a 1/4" with very little effort. yes i can see the front side smallest size of the four rubber inserts moving in the hole. start the motor and rev it up a bit
and i can see it moving up and down.
i'll be taking it to the dealer tuesday afternoon.

My 2012 has 500 miles on it and I am seeing the same thing on the PTO side. I can grap the primary and move it up about 1/4" very easily by hand, and can observe the rubber inserts deformed a little on the bottom side, and a small gap on the top. The mag side seems tight, and I confirmed the PTO strap bolts are tight. Can't check the mag side strap bolts without removing motor it seems.

Mine only moved on the mag side. PTO was tight or so it seem. I replaced with the kit this afternoon and it is about 98% better. I feel much better about it but the true test will be to see how long it last!!!

Loctite 243 that it called for- I looked all over, went to NAPA and could not find out what it is. Looked online and it appears to be just blue. Is that correct?

Thanks

2011 Pro

I am at a total loss here. I would like some help.
I have two 2011 Pro's.
I do have the side panels and the hoods off of both sleds.
I did grab the bottom of the primary clutch, and the bottom of the recoil, and pulled up and down on each.
I have zero play (slack) on either sled. Am I missing something here?
One sled has approx 600 miles while the other has approx 1300 miles.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! :face-icon-small-con

after closer in spection today i can see movement in all 4 of the rubber inserts. i can slip a .020 feeler gauge on the top side of the large pto side bushing. the dealer has seen this on other sleds also, but no offers from polaris to fix it or issue a recall.
again, everyone with a pro should be keeping an eye on this.
for those of you with no issues, consider yourselves lucky.

considering that this is one of hte only things polaris changed on the 2012,s that and they glued the chaine case to the tunnel. Any issues iwht motor mounts or chain case's on the 2011's should get quipped with new parts for free.

Although the information is no longer in the parts fiche (sounds fichey to me)...

The motor mounts #11 and #20 as well as #15 where changed in 2012

BUT...

They are NOT included in the "motor mount update kit" (shown below)

For me... I would want to bring the ENTIRE motor mount system up to the 2012 rather than just the outer bolts and "inserts"

Again the inserts only LIMIT the movement of the actual motor-mount. Not sure what the change to the new motor mounts are and have not been able to find out.

First off, unless you pulled your motor out of the sled... you do not actually have "New 2012" motor mounts in your 2011 PRO.

The fact that your side plate "sleeve" is worn out leads me to believe that your ACTUAL motor mounts (#11, 15 & 20) all or one... are broken or worn out.

The update kit does NOT include these mounts and you actually have to pull your motor to even check #11,15,20....

In my opinion... again this is my OPINION... you need to remove your motor, remove all mounts from the sled, put them in a vice and check them for tears or plain sagged-out rubber.

Thor and the boys should be able to take care of you there.

If they are worn out...they would be covered under warranty... as well as the your worn out side plates that were worn from these failed mounts.... if the mounts in-deed failed!

When installing the update inserts... did you need to lift up on the motor to install the new bolts and rubber inserts? If you did, that is an indication that the mounts themselves are "pooched".

My 2 cents.

Installing the new rubbers and bolts, my motor is tight now.
Also- I did not have to lift the motor at all in order to install the bolts.

I understand what you are saying about pulling the motor to check the other mounts. I did not pull the motor, but I did spend sometime looking over the mounts well, that does NOT mean there is not something wrong with them!

Just hoping these ones make it a little longer!!

Rode on the weekend and heard something go through my clutches. Stopped sled to check it out. Looked like a bolt had hit the primary clutch and dinged it a bit. When I got home I searched for a missing bolt, this is where I discovered that my mag side motor plate was loose, so I think this is the bolt that fell out . Also my motor mounts are pretty worn out. Sled has 1150 miles and going to the dealer tomorrow. I sure hope they can fix me up with some 2012 rubber and mounts.

sometimes good.... sometimes not

Also... to make a point here... The PRO motors do have a fair amount of movement designed in the system... especially at rest. This IS normal.

Don't assume that if you have a motor that can move somewhat in the mounts that there is an issue.

The forums here are Great for getting out the word with issues and tweaks... but sometimes can have people that read these threads believing that there are issues where none actually exist.

Murph.... IMO... with your high milage PRO (I believe you have excess of 2500 on your sled in the first season???).... you really should look into those flanged mounts (11, 15, 20) and compare them directly to a new set. Make a deal with Thor... order them up... if the old ones are NOT easily different from the new ones... you pay for the labor/parts but go with the new ones for good measure... If they are ... It becomes a warranty issue... mounts in the sled should not be wearing out from 1 season of riding and should be covered by the Polaris warranty.

Thin Air is a great dealership to work with, I'm sure they will go to the plate for you.

Eric,

Wes and Brandon have my 2011 Pro in the Thin Air service department.

Waiting on Polaris to get back with them regarding how to proceed.

Yes, my sled does have about 2500 miles on it.

The movement itself doesnt bother me, but I did start killing belts after the first one went 900 miles. 901-2500 miles I went through 5 belts...at. $180 each. All belts washed and broken in, clutch sheaves washed regularly.

Murph,
Next time you see Wes tell him the crazy aussie Niko says he needs to get a comet clutch puller so he can fix my old 900 rmk :)
He will know what your on about...

Update

Brandon at Thin Air has been in contact with Polaris and Polaristar.

They are going to help out, just seeing what direction to go. My 2012 with 0 miles also allows the motor to move quite a bit.

I don't care about the movement so much as long as I can get belts to last-- that what started this whole process.

I will keep everyone posted. Really stoked on the help from Thin Air in Truckee. Can't say enough good things about these guys.
