Wahoo...look what just showed up! Gang check this jacket out at www.hmkusa.com. I was wanting to try this system on prior to ordering one but couldn't find it at the shows. Well all I can say is BAM this is awesome. Got one sight unseen and now super happy.

All new look and design. Perfect lightweight and flexible fit and feel. Heavier outer fabric yet perfect range of motion even over my body armor. All new super cool light and flexible liner jacket also included (similar to the tech jacket). Two awesome riding jackets all in ONE!

Only thing I don't like about most the HMK stuff is their huge logo all over it. Just put a small simple one on the left chest and I would buy. Then again I do own their pro boa boots and the gambler pant. But that pant doesn't have HMK plastered all over it.

The system aspect is apparel industry speak for multiple pieces working together or used seperately for varying conditions.

The outer jacket is a shell of heavy fabric with an inner lining lighter fabric...no insulation between. The inner jacket is a soft shell style tight weave with polar tech or style soft inner side.

Here are some hidden aspects of the Outlaw jacket that I really like and lobbied for. The collar/neck section is a firmer fabric/solid and taller/higher so it blocks wind and snow but you still get freedom of movement and doesn't feel like it's choking around your neck. I don't like wearing a head gasket or bunches of clothing around my neck for warmth because it feels binding. This allows you to stay comfortable, dry, and warm but not constrictive. The jacket is quite a bit longer in the back so it's better for tall riders and also keeps snow from coming up your back side especially if you prefer pants over bibs. Feels like the sleeves are a bit longer but that would have to be confirmed through HMK per sizes.

There are four outer zippered pockets and then a loose liner pocket in the outer shell. Also has zippered pits which is a must. Basically this jacket or shell correctly cut to allow an athletic fit even over your body armor or thick layering (or if you are hefty).

Well it's getting to be that time of year again. Sled heads thinking about the upcoming season and what they are going to put on the "must have" list.

An entire riding season has gone by so I wanted to report in my experience with this riding system. After well over 75 days afield with this jacket in every condition conceivable I have absolutely zero complaints and can recommend NO CHANGES to HMK. Great riders jacket system. Zippers still great, still dry, still looks new so it's very tough and durable. It rode super comfortable and allowed me maximum mobility for aggressive back country riding. Remember we ride more then most do in 4 or 5 seasons! In and out of gear bag over and over. On and off the sleds over and over :face-icon-small-hap. Another great offering from HMK and once again I didn't have to request any changes at all on this model. Highly recommend it!

Thanks for the report.

I will have the opportunity to wear HMK this year. The stuff sent seems really durable and well made. My only observation is that it is not quite as form fitting and articulated as the Klim gear.

The Jacket itself feels a little baggy in the arm pit areas. The larger stiffer collar looks like it will be sweet. What I do love is that the pants come with a built in, removable suspender system. About time!

Look forward to tryin out the gear on the snow.

Thanks HMK!

I have an hmk jacket just like this one and klim pants....looks just fine!

A Klim bib? I didn't see those in the new line-up. Are you concerned about spills? Remember the Outlaw resists most stains. BBQ and hot wings :face-icon-small-dis? I guess hot pockets are a messy treat as well! :hurt: brap brap

I'm willing to "APPEAR" pretty damn gay for a "wheelbarrow" full of money to wear a logo! I bet I'm not alone if anyone was actually asking! FYI over 90% of the 10 year old's surveyed thought it was "fully" cool. :face-icon-small-coo
ha ha

F-Bomb- it says on the website that the outlaw jacket comes with the tech jacket, but you said it has "one that looks like the tech jacket" was this an upgrade from 2010-11? I only ask as I am tossing between this w/voyager bib, or a similar sledneck set-up? Any thoughts?

You should call in to Lucas at HMK for the certain answer. I was at a meeting looking at the new line up and didn't notice that the "tech" jacket that comes with the Outlaw Jacket System had a hood. The stand alone "Tech" jacket has a built in hood and is a different product. I think what I was pointing out was that the two now have the same fabric. The old "system" tech jackets were a different kind of stuff. Not nearly as cool as the now available stuff. Also on that note...the hooded "TECH" jacket is an awesome product as well. Great for early season warm temps or spring riding. Not bad a lucky fishing cover as well!@
