Nellie Juan

Who is back in Nellie Juan? I just heard that the local FD is going back to get somebody out with a broken back. Hopefully they did not have to spend the night back there

Tough spot to be

It would be tough to get somebody out on a sled with all the open water. Hope the weather breaks enough to get a life flight in.

There is never a "good" place to break a back, but that is really bad news. I am not sure who all is over there today from this side. I decided to wait til tommorrow to ride and let the snow let up a little. Still snowing in Seward?

Yeah it's almost like the FD would have to bring a raft and "float" him across all the creek crossings. Not good

Actually using a zodiak as a sled to transport a victim on the snow would make a great "sled" anyway. That would ride smoother than most any kind of trailer even without the water issues. That would make great sense for the whole ride. Payers and best wishes to who ever it is that is hurt.

They did spend the night out there. Had emt's on site all night. One person hurt with broken arm and back. They are bringing him out today. I will know more this afternoon. Prayers!

Thanks for the update Dave. Sux to spend the night out there, but am glad to hear that they had emt's on site. I hope they get him out ok today.

This is a good time to remeind those who may have missed the post last year. Here is the phone number to the Kulis Ang dispatch for emergency rescue. Those boys will fly in most any weather. 907-551-7230 Put this number in your cell under emergency and pray that you never have to call it.

kenai guys

three of the riders dropped off a 30 foot drop one had broken arm and possible back trama. fd was there all night with about half of the crew the rest came out last night and returned back this morning with parts to repair sleds. helio picked up one of them @1:45 on way to anch. rest of them should be trying to make their way out now.

Out

just got a call most of them are out as of 3:30 waiting to hear from other friends when all of them make out. the guys that stayed at the lake said they got 14" of snow last night and was the coldest night ever!

That is great news in a bad situation. Thanks for the update. I'm glad they did get a chopper in there.

Our niece husband Trooper Dan Cox spent the night with them until today for lift out he's a great guy stationed out of Cooper landing.

Maybe now you might think twice before chastizing the Troopers

Heart felt thanks for Trooper Cox. He was the one who helped us out last winter when my party had and issue with a crevass. The only sad part was after it was all over I was in Seward and stopped by the post to again thank them for the efforts, and what a surprise to me that according to the troopers on duty that in over a 100 rescues that he personally has been a part of, that I was only about the 6th person who has taken the time to thanks them.
Just remember who is watching your back and besure when all is said and done you don't forget who is willing to do what it takes to help out the injured and lost.

Again my hats off to Trooper Cox and the EMT crew for there efforts.

SEWARD, Alaska - A snowmachiner who was injured when he rode off a cliff near Seward has been rescued after spending a night outdoors in blizzard-like conditions.

The Coast Guard says rescuers from the Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers and other agencies reached the injured Don Feltman of Kenai after a tough, 11-mile ride on Friday. They stabilized the 49-year-old and stayed with him through the night in the Nellie-Juan Lake area.

Bad weather prevented helicopters from flying him out on Friday night, but a Coast Guard chopper flew him to Providence Hospital in Anchorage on Saturday for treatment of back and arm injuries.
