Needle bearings

Does anyone know how many needles there are on a 05 MXZ renegade small end bearing? I dropped a couple in the botton end while changing out the piston and I just want to be sure I got them all with a magnet. I's also swithching to a caged bearing, do you still use the factory pin washers?

im not postive but when i rebuilt my 04 there were 28 possibly 27 i cant remember. and i dont see why you would. the needles wont be going anywere but you might need them for spacing on the rod to piston connection.

28 needle bearings.. Finding only 27 usually leads to sever engine damage.. Check the water pump outlet "slot".. they can fallin there easily.. Use a small flexible magnet and search around everywhere..
