Need to quiet the exhaust

What do you run on a turbo kit to quiet it down? We have a 88db law going into effect in Colorado and I know I won't pass going out the side.

Boondockers

Boondockers comes this year with a new muffler and tunnel dump that is very nice.

My fix

DynaFlow has a nice little 6 inch stainless muffler that worked on mine, I will snap a pic and post it up. It was about 120 bucks though !

The snowest article said it complied with the 98 decibel rule in Colorado but I don't think that it said what the actual decibel output was.

My apologies.....

Sorry.... it was a Magnaflow that I put on mine. I will upload pics tonight. Here is the link, it is the 4 inch race series..... it is 2.5 in and out, and the diameter is 4 inches by 6 inches long, a very nice little unit, and does not rust. I paid 120, but we get ripped off in Canada, although I got a discount from the hot counter chick at Lord co !

Cheers http://www.magnaflowstop.ca/content/magnaflow-race-series-stainless-mufflers

The sound

It actually sounds really good.... Throaty , like a high performance exhuast, not tinny, or hollow, just a good rumble. I was actually having to wear ear plugs before I installed it, now I don't need them.

its a federal law and its 96db, The 2010 Boondocker muffler does comply at 94.4db

I'm not saying any of the other brands are any better, but in CO the law will be 88 for next year (goes into effect in June 2010 I believe?) I wonder if any of the MFG's will be able to meet this.

I'm not sure where our sleds sit, but that seems to be a pretty tight restriction for anyone with a turbo.

Can you please post any info you have on this 88db law you speak of ? I have heard nothing of it. 88db would indeed be difficult to reach, consider that an increase of 10db represents twice the sonic pressure, that would require an 80% percent reduction from the soon to be adopted 96db reg. Currently the test procedure is 18" perpendicular at 1/2 peak RPM, ie an M8 is measured at 4000 rpm.

I believe that test applies to parks not USFS, it is a very different test than what I have been supplied data on. I have been in contact with enforcement agents from local federal agencies (USFS, BLM) and the information they have forwarded to me has been referencing the 96 db national federal noise regulation and its related testing procedures as stated above. I will make some calls tomorrow regarding this issue.
