Need the Skinny on the 2010 M8 and M10

All I read on here anymore is T Nytro stuff, so I haven't been following M threads.

Does anyone have the info on the 2010 M8 and M10?

I'd like to know the weight and horsepower of each. I hear the M8 is making 160 HP...any more HP for the M10? Where did they get the HP? Does a Y pipe on either still add 10 +/- HP?

I'm gonna order one of these for my son in a Sno Pro 162, which one will depend on this info.

Thanks in advance.

No changes this year for the 1000, looks like it is its last year of production. They took 4 1/2 lbs out of the cranks on the M8 and put a new tuned pipe and y-pipe on to get the 160hp. Weight should be around 464 ish on the 800 but they put the muffler from the 1000 on this year so you can drop and easy 10 lbs with a can.

are you leaving it stock or going to try and get some power out of it. If you know what your doing you can get a lot more power out of a m1000 and the weight diff should be no more than 15-20lbs with after market pipe, the rest of the mods drop the same weight per sled.

When i did my M1 the weight savings on the muffler was 14 lbs some cans were 15 so yes a lot of easy savings.

The M8 sounds pretty cool, but the lightened crank scares me. I can think of past sled of different brands that did this and resulted in broken cranks. A little modding on the M10 might be the safe way to go.

I love the idea of a 160 hp M8 out of the box. If all you want to do is put a lightweight can on it and ride then it's perfect.

If you want to put a single pipe on it or port it, that may pose a problem. The current M8 single pipes may or may not work effectively with the upgraded powerplant?

It could take the aftermarket guys a while to figure out how to coax a few more ponies out of the new 2010 M8.

Ya i have heard that a speedwerx pipe will only get about 3 or 4 more ponies out of the 2010's. As for the crank im not worried about it. Suzuki has a great reputation for good engines, they arent going to take the chance and give us something that will blow apart after 500 miles.

And if it does, lets hope the problem is worked out before the warrenty runs out. :D
