Anyone got some advice to train our little dog peekanize ****zhu my wife and kids brought home. My dog that i loved, and was a great dog got hit by a car and died. So six months later my wife came home with this puppy for my girls. The dog now is over a year old. Ill let it out and it will stay on a leash for a hour in the yard. And I'm out there as well working on my house, so its not like she is by her self feeling neglected. After a while ill put her in and she still pisses on the floor:mad:We have tried treats when she will go pee out side ect.. rub its nose in pee in side when on the floor and all sorts of other things i never had to do with my old dog. I'm thinking of giving up.Maybe some one else will have more time and better luck. The wife and kids are on holidays and my wife was at her wits end before she left as i am. I got one week before there back. what to do?? what to say to my girls? She got hit by a car, ran away, turned into a gold fish?

Sidehiller. We dont have pike we have monster halibut and ya it crossed my mind.

woodzy. We did try that, she sh!t in the kennel.

Wow Woodzy thats pretty harsh;) i'm suprised your still walking around haHaHa.

shock collar - when it goes where its not supposed to and you catch it shock the chit out of it then when it goes where its supposed to highly praise the dog it will figure it out

My springer liked to run untill we got the "good girl" collar

my buddy trained his dog not to bark in a weekend with it as well, Now that dog doesnt make a peep anymore without the collar

I always hated little "Ankle biter" type dogs too, until I brought home a Yorkie for my wife a couple years back.
Now we have two of them and they're smarter than hell!!!
(They just had puppies and we're already training them at 4 weeks to use the piddle pads)
We used a very small kennel, just big enough for the little dog to turn around in and that's it, that's where they sleep and travel and as soon as we take them out of it we have to walk them outside.
We also trie those "Piddle Pads" and those worked real well.
If your dog is crapping in the kennel...it's too big.

Good luck. Remember, your daughters love the little rat so keep trying with a MUCH smaller kennel.

exactly ! ! !

I've got to agree with the shock collar and small kennel/carrier. We've used both on our little house dogs and they do work. During winter months it's harder on ours because of snow, we use the piddle pads then and bring out the collars when spring arrives.

I prefer my Tom Cat, change his litter once a week and he's happy. Plus he keeps the dogs inline.

How would a shock collar work? I dont see her piss on the floor i just see the nice yellow spot. You cant shock her after the fact, she wont no why shes getting shocked. If it wasn't for my baby girls the dog would have been gone a while ago. even my little girl Lindsy says shes bad lol.But wont be happy to see her go. I guess i could get a real small kennel to try like one suggested.

So some of you might laugh, but you need to watch the "Dog Whisperer" on NGC. Guys name is Cesar Milan and he truly can train any dog for any problem. You can buy his books, but I really recommend watching either his show or renting some of his videos. You can get the full seasons on Netflix. It's made a huge difference in our dogs, and we have 5. Two pit crosses, a catahoula, kelpie-lab something cross, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. His methods just work. I do use a shock collar as well, but it works best for certain problems. I'm not sure it would work that great for your problem. It might, but it also might scare the dog into peeing more.
You can even go on Cesar's website, there are articles I think and an online forum and stuff. Would probably help you out a lot.:)

I would put the dog in a SMALL kennel...make her sleep there at night too. Take her out in the morning with the command to "go pee". Always take her to the same spot every time & use the same command. Even a dumb dog will figure it out eventually. Praise her when she goes in the right spot. A lot times dogs go back to spot where they peed before...even though you can't smell it, they can. You have to get some enzyme cleaner or try Vinegar.

I feel for ya. I hope this helps.

And don't feel bad about the kennel. She will learn to love it.

We've found the kennel training to be the best method with small dogs. Part of the problem now is it smells the spots in the house where it has already pea'd and recognizes that as a place to leak. Clean these spots up with vinegar. Rubbing the nose in it doesn't work. You have to catch the dog in the act of peaing in the house and when it does throw(gently) an empty soup can with about 10 pennies in it somewhere near the dog so it scares the hell out of it. Then immediately take it outside until it peas and then lots of praise and treats. This worked wonders with the Wife. When ever she tried to make me a bowl of cereal for breakfast I'd ring that can of pennies off her head and leave her in the kitchen until i got steak and eggs. She still peas on the floor though :D Good advice on watching the "Dog Whisperer". Ceasar is fricken amazing! He has some great advice and tips that really work.

Well I will share what has worked for me on alot of dogs..I treat them just as a alpha male would in a pack..when they do something that I dont want them to do I roll them on their back, hold them down with a good handhold on their throat, and get right in their face with mine and tell them "NO"..making constant eye contact... No pain, no hitting, no shock..just simply what an alpha would do to them...As for potty ..I ask them if they want to go potty..put them on a leash and take them to where I want them to go...within a few weeks that is where they will always go...if they do it someplace other then there..I take them to it...roll them over and do the neck hold with the "NO" command..doesnt matter if I was there to catch them doing it...they soon learn that anything that makes me unhappy is a bad thing to do....now the only drawback to this..all members of the house must do this otherwise the dog will only obey you...in her mind you are alpha..then her then the rest of the family are below her..so she doesnt have to listen or obey them...my 5 yr old shepard is to the point where all I have to do is look at her in a certain way and she knows she is doing something wrong..all without ever doing more then rolling her over and looking at her..nothing violent, rough or anything else...try it ...it does work very good....

you know, my 14 year old lab has not needed me to touch him in over 10 years, I trained him the same way. this very effective, but on small dogs you need to be careful, they seem to have the built in pee reflex as a form of submission. the small kennel is a MUST.

or you can try what worked for my neighbor, his wife brought home an ankle assaulter and when it started pissing in the house...he rubbed his wifes face in it. she did the alpha dog thing and all is better now;)
