Need some help on a place to land

As you probably seen in some of my previous posts the wife and I are moving to the Anchorage area. We are going to be there at the end of October. We are trying to find a simple, cabin type place to rent until we decide were to purchase a home. The search is starting to become frustrating. It's not that we can't find a place it's more toward not the right place. We want someplace to land for a couple of months. Some place simple, out of town. Something like well, a cabin. Not a honey bucket style cabin ;) but something that has all the modern conveniences. Does anyone know of a place to look that has month to month rentals? We would even consider a lease if it was the right place. We have an old dog that is quiet. Heck, she doesn't even bark.. just sleeps.. A small out of the way home would work as well.. not picky just don't want to live in the world of concrete..

Check out Alaska Kozy Cabins 907-376-3190
It in in Wasilla close to Hatcher Pass
I tried to get a link to you but was unable to

Good Luck

That is what we are looking for... :) It's a little far out of Anchorage but it may be a short term option.. By chance is there anything like this a little closer like say Eagle River on the north or on the southern end a little closer to Anchorage?

hey dvarmit, been looking around, but no cabins that close so far, should be able to find a small house in E.R. I would think...now farther out at trapper creek there is quite a few( right next to petersville) as well as some down south by seward..(lost lake)..but thats all I have come across....

Thanks for looking.. I guess we will have to find a small house to land in.. If anyone hears of someone that has a nice, small home for rent around the end of October let me know.. Does not have to be special only warm, dry and not in the city... These "rental agencies" make me leery... I really like the Eagle River area (I think)

Check Craigslist. also, there are ususally a few places in Girdwood that is about 40 minutes from anchorage. quite a fwe rental properties and small cabins down there. very close to placer turnagain and whittier.

40 minutes is a pretty good haul but we will take a look. Thanks!

Check with some of the fishing lodges, cabins and B&B's. I'm not too sure about Anchorage or Eagle River, but I know on the Peninsula there are many places that rent daily to fisherman all summer and then try to find a few short term monthly renters for fall, winter and early spring months just to keep the utility bills paid.

If you want the peninsula I know the perfect place. I stayed with these guys the first 4 months I was here. Super cheap, very nice, on the river, and the owners are the nicest people you have ever met. If it wasnt for them, I would have never survived settling down in AK. PM me if you are interested, I dont want to plaster their name all over the forum...
