Need some cat help

My boys cat appeared to be running fine this morning. We headed up strawberry river toward tower and got about half way there and it died. Tried for a while to get it started to no avail. Checked the plugs, they were new, and they were fouled so we changed them. It tried to start a few times, but we ended up towing him back to the lot. When trying to pull it over the lights don't even flicker. not sure that it is eve firing. anyone got any ideas.

Check spark first. Lights are on a separate coil than the engine is so even if the lights aren't working the motor should run. So check for spark and see if you have it.

Hmm.. I remember that it also died once yesterday while he was riding -- it just turned off.
It must be something electrical -- CDI, coils, etc. It was running too good yesterday to be a fuel delivery issue. Sometimes the plug caps can go bad -- but you would generally notice b/c it would run on one cylinder.

If I can find some time this week, I'll stop by and take a look.

I get home late on Mondays and Wednesdays, on the other days I get home about 5:30, thanks Steve.

If lights dont even flicker and there is no spark chances are the stator is gone. My M1000 did the same thing last year. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

You still think you will be able to get by the house.

I don't know what cat it is but my guess is stator but as others have said if it has fuel make sure it has spark

God news, but I must be stupid. I checked the spark again and the electrical seems to be fine, guess the light was tough to see. Did some checking and it wasn't getting any fuel, the vacum hose on the fuel pump was dry rot and split, oil all over in the carbs and air box. Put a new hose on it and it runs like new.

thanks to all for the input, now lets ride.
