Hey all,
I just bought a 600HO REV with a 144 track and plenty more goodies. I know they have tended to have bad rings stock. I bought from a 2nd owner and he did not know if the previous owner had done anything to the engine.

I'd like to change rings (and maybe pistons) before the season, but I've never done it before.
If someone who has done this before would like to come over and help me swap out the rings, I'd be grateful enough to provide all the beer and even some gas $$ if needed.

I live in Heber. Thanks in advance.

Steve - how many miles on the rev?....IMO, the single ring thing is a little over rated. I know a few guys with over 3K miles and still using the single ring. But if ytou got them, its best to change em

I would post this same question the Rev Mtn forum on dootalk, plenty of doo nerds on that site, and im sure a step by step picture thread has been started long ago.....good luck

Yeah thanks for the info. I'll drop a post there. I know the general idea of how to do it, remove pipe and y-pipe, head, cylinders, pistons, etc,. Just not comfortable doing it myself.

The sled has 2800 miles. It may or may not be an issue. But it's cheap insurance, rings are about 32 bucks from SPI.

Thanks,
Steve

I'm not much of a doo guy, but have worked on plenty of sea doo's.
If you decide to try it yourself, check to see if the wrist pin bearings are "cageless" if so, you will want someone to help you your first time through.
If caged bearings, read up and tackle it yourself.

They are cageless. There's that little sticker right on the jugs. I had to tear down my 800 last year after I blew it up. Those needles can go anywhere.

try to get some good advice from Smitty on Dootalk, he is one hell of a guy.....Big John knows everything about everything, he and Kelsey seem to know the most about doo product....or get some advice from Cowcoyexpress "Ryan" he is know Kelseys right hand man and hes my homeboy also, great poelpe! Tell em Hatchers sent ya:beer;

go to TTABS mod shop thread on dootalk. He has a great install with pics related to doing RKT drop in cylinder kit. Applies to doing your rings. It is on an 800, but should be most helpful. I followed it for my first time and it went fine. Good Luck

Hey Steve,I hope when you open that engine up it looks just like the 800 completely remanufactured engine with 800 miles that was in the sled that you sold to me.
That would be sweat!!!

Yea beedoo when you going to grow up and become a real man ? ?
Do the right thing and make things right with sooboy and all of this will go away and you can start building a good reputation for yourself by starting right here with sooboy , quit hiding and start working with him ! I swear 26 year old adults acting like a 14-16 year old cump kid ! Time to grow up !

Beedoo - your posts suggest you are not a mech. type guy....with that said, the pics that dude posted suggest you just thought the sled was running like crap and chamged the plugs....then i guess you never rode it again???

Fun Fact - a stockish doo series 3 and newer 800 don't eat plugs, they eat pistons/heads/jugs/rings/cranks.....just like any other 2 smoke. So tear it down next time you eat a plug or make the damage report bigger

Good point Hatchers. As I said, I had no idea of the damage. Anyway, we've worked out a deal. Thanks for the info. Would love to hook up for a ride sometime.
