I usually ride in WY but will be in Summit County the next few weeks and will bring my sleds. I have never ridden this area and will have a new-to-snowmobiling rider with me as well. I am looking for some advice/direction on where to go, where to park, what trails/areas to ride in, etc.

It sucks here. It's all flat & there's no snow.

Just ask powdersnobb.

For noobs, Vail pass is actually a pretty decent spot to hit, (where both of you can have fun) it's got terrain where he can have fun without too much commitment, but there's also other fun stuff to ride.

Tiger road, just out of town here, is another good for both kinda place. Also Freemont pass (just a bit farther than VP) is another place, not something I'd recommend for a snowy day, it's pretty open up there, but on a bluebird day, cool place.

Yep. Nothing to see here in scummit county. Just a lot of traffic, bad drivers and no hills. Backcountry pretty much summed it up on where to go around here. Vail Pass is good for newbs because you can have fun w/out getting to far off the groomed trail. Same for freemont, but not much for parking over there. Have fun. Be a good driver up here or you might find some silver dodge running you off the road, and possibly a silver jetta.:face-icon-small-win

Yeah actually I've been snowboarding Summit County fairly regularly (20+ days/yr) for the last 10 years, just haven't brought the sleds out. Part of the reason has been the traffic, and this year is the first I've been on the sled more than the board. I just got fed up with I-70 and the drive.

But I'm gonna suck it up a few times this year to try and get a couple friends who are Breck locals to get into sledding when I'm up there. Sounds like we will try Vail Pass. Will I be able to figure out where to go when I show up, or is there somewhere I can find info on the parking and trail setup for VP?

VP is super self explanatory, you can't possibly miss it.

Go up VP, take VP exit, look for sleds, PAY THE FOREST NAZI, park near other sleds.
