Need help with snowmobile trailer

I was looking at getting a enclosed four place. I was thinking about a 7 wide so that its low to the ground so the wind doesnt get under it. But i cant find a cheap one like that. I have found a 8 wide one and i dont know if the wind will get under it or not. What do you guys think for an enclosed.

I have a Featherlite 28 foot gooseneck with 8 feet in the neck that is 8.6 wide and a 16 foot Pace 7 foot wide for just 2 sleds. I pull them with a F-250 diesel. The gooseneck pulls better, but the little one pulls fine. Just have to watch the wind.

I got in a bad accident in 2000 with a triton 4 place open on black ice, lost my brother that night. So whatever you pull use so common sense when the roads are bad.

I have pulled an 8' wide triton aluminum enclosed 4 place and have had no issues. But I do put 4 yamahas in it to weigh it down :)

I did have one incident pulling my dad's 8' wide enclosed two place triton a few years ago - did a 360 with it on I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne. The trailer did not flip, but the machines did come out of the back of the trailer (yes they were tied down with the ski bars - those just bent up into a v shape). The 'latches' on the triton doors leave a little to be desired. The sleds had no problem shearing off the 4 bolts that hold those 'latches' to the side of the trailer. I love the aluminum, but sometimes I think they built the trailers a little too light (mine is a 2001 model)

A 7' wide would be nice, but if my choice was 8' wide enclosed vs. not buying an enclosed I would go for the 8 footer (just my opinion though)

You might be able to find 8' wide lowered with wheel wells inside.

Like tmk 50 said, the alum tiedowns are inadequate in accidents. I had one break just for slamming on the brakes once.

Thats why we tie the sled in the rear around the axel helps keep them in place in those hairy situations

Epoxy

My Buddie "Seth" had his buddie "DoughBoy" hook:cool: me up with some Two Part Epoxy Paint. I added a bit of sand, and a few high hours later had a great floor.

Peace out,

Johnny

I have a 27' Interstate 8' wide and I have not problems with the wind. I would tell you the loading and unloading is worth it!

Look into a new one. I found the price was close

nebraskarmk.....I live in WY & always have to take the trecherous haul on I-80 between Cheyenne & Laramie. I recently purchased a trailer myself & had pondered this question for a long time. Sure everybody brags on light trailers to save a few dollars on gas, but I kind of like a little weight back there (plus if you have a diesel, like I do....what is an extra 1000+ lbs? 2500# or 4000# it makes little to no difference on fuel consumption!). I ended up getting a used 2006 Interstate 16'+5'Vnose, 8' wide, 3500#, low profile (wheel wells inside the trailer) & it looks similar to the Haulmark trailer that was posted a couple posts prior. I think I am going to like it. I have hauled it in some strong winds already & it seems to pull well. But I also think that regardless of what kind of trailer you are pulling, getting on that stretch of road with the ice & wind, you just have to use a little common sense & slow down when going thru.

Blue Flame

Is that propane tank vented outside? If so, how? What kid of heater is that?

The Heater is a "Blue Flame" ventless, 28k heat out put. If you have a qualifed tech fill the tank you wont have any overpressure venting issues. never fill a tank more than 80% of its capacity.

Peace Out

Johnny
