Need HELP with my 2010 Nytro.....running "rough" at full throttle???

Alright....just bought this Nytro two weeks ago. Before I went out, I installed a Ballistic lithium-ion battery, and a Yamaha roll-over valve with tether. Then I made my own steering relocator (works great!). This is everything I have done so far, just to inform you all of all the "variables"..... and I should mention that it has a rumble pack exhaust and HID lights.

Now, back to my PROBLEM.... First time out i made it two miles from the truck and when I would open the throttle it would bog out, similar to a two-stroke hitting a det-sensor. My two left lights (YELLOW hazard and RED temp) would come on but would turn off as soon as I let off the throttle?? I had a code 81 (grip warmer, they are NOT working) on my display along with and engine symbol that was blinking. If I turned the sled off and restarted, they went away till I rolled deep into the throttle.... Where to start??

Went straight back to the truck and went home :( Researching now, taking it into trhe dealer on Tuesday. Hoping I can figure this thing out before then. I already took it to my local shop and they thought it might be an air bubble in coolant or low oil. So they heat cycled my sled five times and added a tiny bit of oil. But I had the EXACT same issue today when I went out to see it they fixed it....nope.

Any ideas guys??? Is it electrical? (related to code 81)

Something to check would be where the wiring harness is routed over the left front motor mount. You can see this area behind the primary clutch.
What can happen, is there is a small aluminum "knub" that sticks out from the motor mount. If the harness falls downwards, the knub wears a hole in the harness, causes a short and all sorts of weird electrical problems.
You'll probably have to lift the harness to see it.

I cut the knub off with a hacksaw blade, filed the mount casting smooth and repaired the harness on mine. (it was setting a code 81 also)

Sounds like an electrical issue. I had similar grief on my '08 Nytro MT-X (the problem started last March and was believed to be repaired when my dealer changed the throttle position sensor).

This winter, my sled would run perfectly most of the day, but then for no reason it would "stumble" quite a bit at low rpm (<6000). When accelerating the stumble would disappear.

Finally, this problem became very bad on Feb 4/12 when I was about 45 miles from my vehicle, and the sled would idle cleanly but cough and sputter when I applied the throttle. I put the sled into it's diagnostic mode, and we could see that the throttle position sensor was giving erratic readings. It turned out that one of the wires coming from the throttle position sensor was rubbing against the frame, and the insulation was worn away so that the bare wired was periodically contacting the frame. This was shorting out the TPS signal. (The rubbing was about 6 inches from the TPS where the wires join into a big bundle running along the frame.)

We put some electrical tape around the bare wire and the sled ran perfectly after that. I would bet that my original TPS was fine, and that the bare wire was moved away from the frame when the mechanic looked at my sled last March.

Another place to check is the wiring coming out of the crankshaft position sensor (located behind the primary clutch, and is easy to see after removing the secondary clutch). Sometime the insulation of this wiring can be rubbed away by a small metal shield/clamp.

Thx for the info chem..... I have been tracing wires all morning and have seen several "rub" spots on the wiring harness but nothing to bad yet. I will take a look behind the secondary and let you know.

The encouraging part is that it seems your Nytro was acting the same way mine is acting. I have had two Polaris turbos and sold em to go with a "bullet-proof" sled. My first time out and it threw four codes at me!!! But I will stick it out and get the bugs worked out.....then boost

You're welcome. In my experience, forums are often more helpful than a dealership when searching for intermitent issues! BTW, had I not found my electrical short and I need a tow back to the trucks, I would have been pulled by either a 09 XP or a 05 900 RMK. Talk about humiliation :)
