I have the choice between a 2006 summit high mark and a 07 summit x what do you guys think would be the better sled i do a lot of hill climbing but with some bookdocking in the earley part of the year what one would you guys get and why.

If the 06 highmark is the 1000cc...........I would suggest the 07 summit X. It much lighter and more fun to ride. Althought the Rt makes more ponies it's not as fun. IMHO.

If its a 1000 highmark get it and lighten it up a little bit and you will have a blast. It is not as easy to ride but a lot more power and track. It is almost scary what it will climb stock.

Yes it is the 1000 and i have been ridding a 2000 rmk with a 159 inch track and i could get that have thing in and out of the trees good.I have been looking to find a pipe and can for it to drop some weight and cant find one and i am going to see how hard it to drop it bellow 500 pounds with barkbuster frunt and rear boss seat and what ever else i can find to get it light

I would get the '07 800, have been on both and honestly I havn't seen a 1K that will take a settup 800 in the deep, and the 800 has more "fun factor". :beer;

I would have to agree with winterbrew on this one. I ride a 07 159X and my brother rides a 05 1000X with a 162, both are stock except for hps cans. I have rode both and even though the 1000 has more power and slightly more track it will climb better than my 07X, BUT NOT BY MUCH. However the size and weight of the 1000 is so much more that even if you could lighten it up to get close to the 800x you would be out a ton of cash, and the sled is just physically bigger and you couldnt get to handle as well as the 800x.

Get the 07 800x . Get the slp kit (y-pipe, can, heads and reeds) cost you about a thousand. Takes the motor up to 172hp. This is the exact set up that I ride. The fun factor goes to 11 on a scale from 1 to 10 and you will not be disappointed. Very reliable and XP's have a hard time keeping up:D

On the slp kit do you hafe to run a race gas mix? the onley bad thing about ware i live we start out ot 4K some days and ride to 10k and so would i have a problum win i was down lower?

SLP head requires jetting bigger, RKT head allows you to jet down 2-3 sizes and still run pump 91, a couple in my riding group and we ride down to 2500ft and no issues, it really adds in the midrange.

Definately go with the 800. Leave it stock, maybe a HPS can. If you are compelled to doo an engine mod then give Big John a call and enjoy. Best phone call you could make before dooing a thing to the engine.

That is why i was thinking about getting the 1000 is because i was going to make it a mod sled but leve the engine stock 4 now that way it would have the hp with out putting money in to the motor

I never had an 800 come close to my 1000 rev in the deep powder. The 1000 rev is great but the resale sucks. Ps I have a Stinger for it cheap.....Good luck

If you do get the 1000. Look at Timbersled to shed some weight. They also make a pretty sweet intake kit too.:face-icon-small-win

I sold my 1000 to buy an 800R and have NO regrets. The 800 is WAYYYY more fun to ride. If you are looking at modding I think it is a better starting point than the 1000.

the 1000 is just a bulky sled, the front end is much wider than the rev, throw a rkt head, pipe and can combo on the thing, you will be surprised, or RKT 827 the thing. they make nice ponies.

the 1000 just seems to heavy of a starting point for me i guess.

Yes the 1000 is kind of havey ok a lot but i have ben ridding a 2000 rmk with mods that onley mad it way more:( than i have rode the 1000 a cuppole times and it is way better to ride in the trees and blue my mind in the steap that is why i was going for that and i onley ride the trees 2 or 3 times a year and the rest hill climbings.

dude, i came from 800's just this winter went to the 1000, rode it 3 times and will never look back. it doesnt turn as tight in the trees but leaves the 800's behind in them cause it likes to float way better. as for hills the one guy says it only out marks by a little bit, id say its more like 50% i can climb with my buddy on his turbo apex (kinda) his sled rips up steeps and mine crawls but that crawl is fine cause you couldnt get an 800 up there, not even close. if youre used to the longer sleds then youve got nothing to worry about as far as handling of the rt. the weight sucks a bit but lightened up its only 40 pounds heavier than an 800 with the same track. if you like to spring ride and jump then youll need to start building an mxzx too.

For the riding we do, I'd go with the 800, but that's all personal preference. I've ridden both, and find the 800 to be more fun in the trees with less effort. Now if they would just put the 1000 motor in the XP chasis, we'd have a sled we could all agree on! :D The lighter weight does make a big difference in deep powder boondocking through the trees. JMO!

so it sounds like it is up to the person and how thay like it and seeing how i am going to go with a new rear skid and seat and all that good stuff i think i am going to go with the 1000. thanks for all your input
