NEED HELP.....PLEASE READ????

have and 05 rev 800. went out riding wide open through the deep powder, let out and sled just wanted to sputter and wouldnt idle. was tuned and running great before hand. took the carbs apart and had them completely gone through, with no major problems. they were a little dirty so the were cleaned. pistons and rings not scared up, or coming apart. spark plugs not beat up. took the exhaust valves apart as well and cleaned. not throwing any engine codes. but still wont run quite right, wont idle. have no idea whats wrong. electrical? any ideas?? please help. thanks

compression test? and check your oil cable. mine wouldnt idle and was smoking real bad and i found out it was frayed and the oiler was always on. good luck

This is a far out shot but the same thing happened to my buddy's '05. After replacing the stator, trigger coils, and numerous other electrical parts at the dealership and still having the same problems....they found an exposed wire underneath the seat going back to the tail light. 2 cents worth of electrical tape fixed it....just thought it might be worth checking out before you throw expensive parts at it.

will check the wires. thanks i mix gas so probably wouldnt be the oil thanks for the thought tho. and i also did check the reeds have boyeson carbon fiber reeds. no cracked or frayed petals. thanks for the help any other suggestions?

Sled-junkie, did you ever find the problem? I've got an 07 800r that has similar problems and have run out of options. I haven't checked the oil cable yet so maybe that will result in something.

I haven't used the carb heaters since I've owned the sled and since the problem occurred I've ridden in different temps and conditions so I'm thinking that's not the problem. As for the DPM, I did take the solenoid off and test it and it was activating back and forth when I applied 12v to it.

Coil? I had an arctic cat that did that, lost one side of the coil. Took me a bit to figure it out. Fire it up and pull the wires, left then right listen for a drop in RPM... if it stay's the same when you pull the wire then that's your deal.

Mine started fine, did not really want to idle but it would run and ride but no power and it used a ton of fuel.

Does it pull WOT? Is the trouble only on the bottom end or just all around lost performance? Mine happened the same way, ran a stretch at WOT and then just craped out.

If you don't have anything electrical shorting out then...

I'll bet you there's a hairline crack in one of your boots from carb to reeds. I've run into this before (twice) with boyseens. The replacement boots that boyseen sells are better than the boots that come with the reeds. I couldn't really see the cracks, but replaceing the boots fixed both sleds. Pretty cheap fix for a bad runnability problem

i have not found the problem yet. never used the carb heaters. im not sure what to do.

I ended up taking my to the dealer and he spent about 3 hours on it and didn't find anything wrong, he thinks that it might be the ECU and suggested that I try and find someone with the same machine and swap it out to see if that fixes it before going and dropping five bills on a new one. Now that it's summer he said to wait until next season and try and pinpoint the exact conditions the problem occurs. Sounds like a good idea to me and glad he was reasonable and didn't just throw some expensive parts at it.

my buddies 04 had a crack in his intake boots and i did the same thing your sled is doing. take them out and really study them, and if there is you can use opoxy from napa to fix the crack if it isnt to bad. good luck!:face-icon-small-coo

Have you cleaned the primary clutch? Dirt, sticky rollers on the centrifical arms can cause only partial shift out of the primary. Is the belt worn? Finally, check the secondary for wear and dirt. Good luck.
