Hey guys, I need some ideas for a good fundraiser for my 6 year old niece.

Last saturday she was having trouble breathing. My sister toook her to the hospital and they immediately helicoptered her to Sacred Heart Childrens hospital. She's got some rare form of pneumonia. Her left lung collapsed and the other is beginning to fill up with fluid too. She's already had 3 surgerys and a blood transfusion along with a mile long list of other things. she is in a doctor intuced coma now so she doesn't pull at all the drain tubes and breathing tubes.

My Sister and her husband have insurance but it's 80/20. The doctors said if everything goes well the soonest she could be out is Halloween. But it will propably be longer. There share is projected around $40,000 as of now.

Her name is Gracie and she is an awesome little girl who loves dirtbiking and sledding. I feel helpless right now and need to do something for my sisters family.

Thanks in advance, Chris

sorry to hear.. hope everything turns out alright..

as for the fundraiser there should be quite a bit that you can do...
one thing people do around here is the coffee cans for donations like in the gas stations and grocery stores.. A kid i knew was 22 yrs. old, no insurance and had to have a heart transplant.. said they recieved around 4k just using the coffee cans..

My family owns a bar.. we have done lots of charity nights there for different people in hard situations.. find a good local bar thats willing to do it.. find a good local band.. let them know whats going on.. your local paper and radio stations should do a little advertising the event for free...

Another thing since she like biking and sledn.. get with your local motocross track.. setup a little race day.. with proceeds going to the family....

Once the snow flys setup a poker run... use local sled/atv shops to advertise and find a local club to help you out..

hope this helps..

This still SNOWEST and we tend to care for our like no other.

Set up a paypal account, and you(she) has a donation from me, and I am sure others you know and don't. You know we like to tend to our own in times of need, I know you have seen and been a part of. Set it up we shall come.
Its not charity, without a prize, its helping care of one of our own, I child no less, in a time of need..

Set it up we shall come...

That sucks man!!! I know what they/you are feeling and it sucks. No better word for it.

Our son just had a major surgery and the total bill was right around $200k and our portion was only $5g's. I was expecting it to be the maximum out of pocket which I think was 10, I'm not going to question it though.

Do you Modern Woodmen in your area? They do good things around here with their matching funds dinners and such.

A few years ago we lost a S.W. friend in an avalanche...... We did a fundraiser for his widow and child using an ABS pack..... There are many people that wouldn't mind to donate items just for the advertising as we found out along the way..... We raised some good coin for her and his daughter.... It was alot of work but worth it!!!

I know a pack costs alot but I guess my point is that if you get a good Snowmobile product like the pack or a helmet and hold a raffle it is a good way to get people on board that might not be able to just chip in.... This way they get a chance at a product that they might not have purchased any way but wouldn't mind throwing 50 bucks at....

I wouldn't mind if you used any of my donation for such a product for a fundraiser as I'm sure some others wouldn't.....

$40G's is an insane amount of money for medical expense's..... I could never imagine having to pay for something like that for something so precious.....

I guess we are lucky to pay such high tax's in Canada cause I've blown ACL's, Fractured Ankles, Broke Collar Bones, Had 2nd and 3rd Degree burns and never had to pay a dime....

Good Luck!!

another option for you would be the raffle idea.. do a couple of them.. I really like the abs idea that rideguy said.. heck i would buy a ticket now..

also since in idaho.. i would say a gun raffle would go over very well.. do a very nice gun.. find a shop that deals with csi (or big rock) as a wholesaler.. tell them to contact them about the raffle.. they will give the shop a HUGE break in cost most of the time.. then setup a raffle for a limited # of tickets.. and sell them at a premium.. might also be cool to do a complete rifle setup..
just an idea that works good around here..

How the h*ll do I do the Paypal donation thing? If I click on the link in the post above it just opens Outlook 'cause it thinks it's an email address?

Ive seen people do Holdem tounaments where the winner get a % of the total for the buy in. Not sure what they brought in at it but the buy in was $40 dollars. You probably could get a bar or banquet room to have it in there place of business for free.
