Need help fast!

Got my 1160 put back together today, bolted in to the chassis, ready to ride except for pipes and carbs. We started to fill it with coolant and it started leaking out of the weep hole in the water pump. We replaced the outer seal when we were putting it back together (obviously we didn't do something right). My question is to save time and wear/tear would it be possible to invert the motor, and remove just the lower half of the case to replace seals and leave the top end together? I'm not seeing why it's a problem as the locator pins for the crank are in the top half so putting it back together shoudn't be an issue. Just wondering if anyone has done this. Thanks for the help. :beer;
