Need HELP 2005 900

Was the fuel fresh when you put the oil in? I am pretty sure you want to have some oil in there if it is a fresh rebuild for at least the first tank you run through it to make sure you don't seize it.

ya drained tank and put fresh fule in that was 2 months ago when I put motor back in. Going to just get it run 100% then put oil back in when I will ride it on snow

I just picked up another 05 900 for my wife and I am having simmilar issues. on cold startup it runs low rpm and dies. on restart it still idles low until it starts warming up. slight backfire with throttle also. after riding for 2 minutes at higher throttle it runs great. After 5-10 minutes it gets a #5 blink code. but runs great until it cools down again.however I am not experiencing any problems above idle.

Code #5 is for egt sensor I think. I am going to swap egt sensors between my 2 900's to see if problem still exists. I checked my IAT sensor and it is functioning correctly.

You say you allready replaced your egt and tps? was there any change in idle speed or stalling? do you have any codes?

I think I have a spare stator in my shop. I changed one out 2 years ago when I had a stalling issue but it turned out to be the main ecu harness connector by the ecm was melted inside.
I will check when I get home. where are you located?

Have you tested the stator? My buds 900 at the end of last season all of a sudden just quit running, then it would fire right up, and away we go. Hour later, it would die again, then fire right up and we would ride for another hour, then it would quit again. Every once in awhile it would bog, and not hit peak rpm. It finally died right when we got back to the trailer, and then wouldn't fire up again. I tested the stator and found the exciter coil to be bad. Hope this helps.

Yes I have tested the stator cold and hot and it is with in spec. The only problem I had was testing the CPS was hard to get a reading and if I wiggled the wires while testing if would appear that the ohms would change. I have pulled it and am getting ready to send it to RM Stator what do I have to lose but a couple hundred bucks I am already in to this sled double what it is worth.

Try looking for broken or loose wires at the TPS or in the bend area around the clamp.
I tried all of the previous solultions listed. I actually sodered new wire into the TPS
and added water tite connectors a short distance away. Makes it easy to test and
adjust with some extra connectors. Because you have removed that connector and wire
alot ,as I had, the problem was very tough to find. Get it running and do the wiggle test.

thanks for the reply, I have changed the tps harness with the kit from polaris it helped but now I have a problem at high speed now that I can get it to rev.

Yup, that is pretty vague. Hard to help if we don't know what exactly the problem is. I personally have a problem at high speed too, it's called the highway patrol.:face-icon-small-ton

Thought I had a broken tps wire so I put on the tps harness kit and there is no longer a bog at low speed but now a new problem it will backfire "little pop pop pop" through pipe at 6500 and above rpm when running on a track stand. Now snow yet so can't run on the ground. who has an idea on the cause of this?

Sorry I did say what the problem was but it was some time ago.
