Anybody close to C/S have a hot surface igniter for a Bryant furnace? My wife says I can't go sledding until it's fixed.

Just replaced mine...twice. Pretty much any hot surface igniter you get will work if you can mount it somhow. I used a universal one because the OEM one was not avail.
In the meantime, just light your furnce with a match or lighter, turn the temp up in the house and just let it run for a while. You'll have to re light it obviously. Once the house is warm, turn the tstat down so the gas/igniter doesn't try to cycle.

Come on Ski, you are a smart guy. Presidentially Engineer it. Try the big box stores, prolly the only places that are open this weekend.

Thanks guys, I know how to get it lit to warm up the house. I also have a convection oven, so I just rigged the switch closed and left the door open and turned it to 195. The house is a warmer than normal 72 this morning. I have a friend that used to do P&H install but doesn't have any connections for parts. Any service call is gonna run $300 at this point.

There was no way I was spending a couple hundred, let alone the 400 the guy wanted last night. The part is $29 shipped. Now I just have to get my wife to light it manually during the day and use the oven at night so I can still go snowmobiling this w/e.

Ski,

I know it has been cold here in the Springs lately; with low's in the single digits for the next couple of nights, you and the family doing o.k.?

Not that there is much I can do regarding your predicament with the furnace but I have a coffee maker that works and the house is warm.

Chaos

Chaos, it's all good. Leaving the oven door open kept the place at 72 overnight and my wife is finally comfortable lighting the furnace manually for daytime use. My biggest issue was leaving for 2 days to go sledding and her managing it by herself. I just refuse to spend hundreds for a damn service call for a 2 minute fix and a $25 part.

Actually I didn't. I can have my wife pick one up in town Monday and then I can put it in when I get back tuesday night. The one I ordered will actually be a spare, I read that they normally last 3-5 years and the house is almost 5 years old.

I wouldn't use the oven. Something about that element being full on with the door open for that many hours is not good. Way outside it's recommended use and could cost you dearly. Or are you using it with the door closed at a reasonable temp, so the element cycles off?

It is electric. Actually, Emma only set it to 100 degrees last night with the convection fan going. I wouldn't figure that as testing it too much.

My concern would be that it cycles off to let the wiring cool. just throwing it out there Dave :)

Well the house didn't burn down last night at least. She has had Turkeys in the oven for hours so.......

Did a little research and it appears that heating the house via electric oven is not all that dangerous :D
