Ok guys after riding my buddies turbo last year...I think I'm hooked... I'm riding a 2010 M8 at 0-3000 and am seriously considering a turbo. Is there anyone out there riding a turbo at low elevation?

I live in a rural area with no other turbo sleds around. I don't live near a dealer that is capable of installing/tuning a turbo sled so I would be on my own. The install isn't really too concerning to me because I'm mechanically inclined but I like to ride and don't want to spend all my time tuning. Is this something I should even be considering at my elevation? I'm just concerned that with no other sleds around for reference that I would be creating a time bomb out of my sled.

Also...I'm already the "crazy" one in my group and know that I would be going places that no one will be able to follow, which is what intrigues me but at the same time I would be riding some of these areas solo.

Any info would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance.

So you have a buddy with a turbo but no one in your area with one, make sense of that. Do you ride with other turbos or not. If not then no, get it ported and piped at that elevation it should rock, if you do ride with other turbos then yes. Is 3000 as high as you go.

Are you sure u even need a turbo at those elevations

I would think that your 10 m8 should go anywhere you want to go without a turbo

May not need it...

The turbo sled I rode was in Smithers BC 4-7000 feet and now where I live. I do occasionally ride in Hyder AK and its 0-7000. I would surely be able to use it in Hyder/Stewart but only spend about two weeks a year riding there. I rarely ride over 7000.

Maybe just ported and piped would be sufficient.

if the majority of your riding is under 3500 feet I would not recommend a turbo sled.

When you are at sea level the air presure is 14.7 apsi. When you are at 10k ft. the air presure is at 10.1 apsi. So a guy running 5psi boost at 10k ft is only making stock HP. A guy running 8psi boost at 10k is the same as you running 3psi boost. When you run close to stock hp you should see the same service life as a stock sled at sea level.

I had my new (09 M8 with 2010 pipe ect) Push Kit running 7.5lbs on straight 100ll at 2000 feet and ran next to my buddies stock 2010 m8 and made it look pretty silly not even in the same ball park. A/F at 12.2 took a little tunning but it rips now. Also im only running 2 injectors.
