need a opinion between a m7 and m1000

Im looking at to sleds, one is a 2006 m7 153" that's in pristine shape and the other is a 2007 m1000 162" that's decent shape but high miles. I ride out west once or twice a year and the rest back county Michigan riding. Each one is for sale for $3600, which one will I be happier with? This is all I know about each sled. Thanks
 
I would choose the pristine condition over the one year newer and bigger motor. Besides the 700 is a lighter, rock solid motor. The M7 seems like it would be perfect for Michigan.

I ran a crossfire 700 when I lived in the UP. It worked well even with the 136 rip saw. A 141 M would be over kill if it still has the stock paddle track.
 
I really liked my 06 M7 LE in the Yoop, a few bolt on mods really woke it up too!

M7 is a really solid sled. There is very little that ever goes wrong with them. I never had a single issue with mine and i ran it hard. m1000 will have more power yes but i would stay away. A little clutching help and some chassis mods and that M7 is a built proof machine.
 
I would say the M7 is the way to go. Lighter sled, with good power. Has a 153" and it will rip! Like ultrasks700 said, little clutching work to get it dialed in and it will be good to go! Best of luck
 
I have an M1000 and I would suggest going with the m7. I love my sled now that I have it built the way I like it, but they are far from great without mods. I have ridden with a few m7's and have always been impressed with them.
 
what is your size and weight

the m7 is 140HP stock vs, 162 HP for the m7, but about 30-40 lbs heavier, but with a SLP pipe and can, plus fuel controller you can crank it up to about 190HP on the m1000. i'm a bigger guy 6'1" and 250 lbs , and I loved my m1000's, I've had 3 of them, and a m7 with a Dragoncat 1000 motor in it. m7's are good for smaller guys and Women, I've seen a lot of guys get into trouble with m7's in the steeper, deeper terrain, not enough juice to go where they want to go. but in the flats a m1000 may be overkill. but who says too much power is a bad thing. I would ride a 400lb, 400HP Sled if there was 1.
 
I love my M7. It brings me everywhere I need to be. If I shouldn't be there I won't get there. And like everyone has said, it's bulletproof. I know a lot of guys would buy a brand new one if they could get their hands on one.

Thanks for the input, funny thing is on my way to buy the m7 I came across a smoking deal on a 2012 xf 141" and I bought it, I kniw it'll suck out west with a 141" but should be a perfect up north sled.just need to find m a-arms and shocks now.
 
Funny I was about to post this exact question. Between an m8 and m7 which would be the better if the two? I live in Alberta this will be my first sled and I know a thing or two about them but I'm a smaller guy 5'8" and 160 lbs. I can get an awesome deal on both an m7 and m8 and both are pretty good shape. But I like the fact the m8 is an 09 with reverse with 3000kms and the m7 is an 06 with 1300 kms but both are the same price and both are in pretty good shape. Lots of mountain riding and hills where I live.
