Just killed my 2nd air impact gun tonite lagging in 12" x 3/8" lags, granted the guns are most likely older than me, but,.......... I still need to replace them with a good one. The old ones are Central Pnumatic(sp), from my stepdad, which I have used for over 4 yrs. But running over 300 lags and counting has finished them off.

Now i need a GOOD gun without paying 3-400 bucks. What's you fellas running?

Oh, I forgot I need 1/2" drive, gots me a 3/8, and 3/4 already.

Thanks fellas. Froggy.

best you can get are the composite ingersol rands..they will last twice as long ..have way more power and are lighter...last I saw they run about 250 on sale...get one..you wont regret it...

Yep, what AK said...I have the Ti Ingersol Rand 1/2"...highest ftlb rating of any 1/2" impact. Highly recommended.

For a cheap OK one try the Harbor Freight Earthquake. Under a hun but not in the class of an IR.

I have 6 of the various Snap-On Composite bodied models. Oil them daily.
Used to go through even a 3/8 air ratchet in little over a month (cheapies)
Keeping hem freshly oiled, I could extend their life 2 more months.
If you are using them with a small air compressor, the compressor runs a lot and makes a lot of moisture go through them. That is hard on the air vanes.

Daily users, my best air ratchet has lasted over 11 years with 2 head replacements from wear clipping on sockets.

Electric impacts, I'm using the Snap-on brand also. Battereis have been dying after 4 years of use. I keep 6 of each battery charged and ready for each tool.

Not pushing Snap-on on you guys, just leaning towards good air tool oil (never can use too much) and keeping moisture from inside the compressor.

Air impact gun. I love the 1/2" IR Titanium gun. I have had it for 2 years now and use it if not every day, at least every other. It's amazing what it will take off. It's impressed a lot of people and it's not that heavy either.

I kind of like the DeWalt 18V impact guns as well. Matter of fact everyday I get closer to just pulling the trigger on one.

only beef i had with the composite ir's was they didn't take abuse or contaminets well, my mac 1/2 guns are really forgiving and are just copys of the old ir guns, yes they are heavier than the composites but if they last longer?
