Neckbrace with avy bag?

I plan on riding with my leatt more this season, I also ride with a float 32 but that doesn't matter this question is for all avy bags. Will a neckbrace get in the way when you deploy your avy bag in an avalanche? And can it potentially injure you or ruin the bag, stop it from deploying properly ect. Just curious.

If your brace fits under the pack then it should not, but if it does then the abs is the only one that releases two bags from the side...but since you have a BCA then test it and take some shots as i am sure many people would be interested in how it all intergrates...

zero issues with ABS, I would not run it with BCA, it goes RIGHT into the bag.

Glad I had both that day.

I've deployed a few bags at work and I never thought about a neckbrace with it so I never paid close attention to if it would work or not, the more I think bout it the more I think a brace (at least leatt) wouldnt work with these bags. Hmm of well I guess... -_-

The ABS bags definitely look like great bags to me, but staff discount on a float was to good to pass up :D

Looks like you went for a bit of a ride there BCIL glad you were ok!

if you look at where the bca sits when deployed

and how far out a brace sticks out

I really don't feel it would be a good idea to mix the two.

At very least I'd want to test it a few time, but I'd be concerned about damaging the bag, or keeping the bag from fully deploying, as the rear shelf of the leatt goes right over the top of the pack.
When I had a float 30, there was no way I could have even worn the bag with my leatt, as the upper part of the bag stuck up too far from where it met with the shoulder straps.

The BCA airbag will pivot back. BCA will be at all the major snowmobile shows. I would suggest bringing your neck brace and testing to see how it works. Mike Duffy

I have been wearing my Leatt the last two years sledding along with my bca float 30 and have never thought of this. Luckily I have never had to deploy the airbag (knock on wood). I think that if it came down to it the bag would push the brace up into the back of the helmet and it wouldn't be an issue. The back of the brace is covered in foam so it shouldn't damage the bag. A tree branch or sliding over a rock is going to be more detrimental to the bag than the neck brace.

Never the less I am going to be testing them together in full gear before the season starts thats for sure! I will try to remember to take pictures and post them. If there is an issue there will be a float 30 for sale on here because my leatt is not going anywhere and I will need a new avy bag!

Definitely post back with your results, im really interested in knowing if this works or not!

I wear an Atlas brace in the summertime and do not wear it in the winter. Besides the fact that I "think" is will get in the way of my SnowPulse bag, I just didn't like the lack of feel I had with the brace over my jacket. In the summer it is almost on my skin and feels planted. When I have my jacket on, it feels like it's constantly out of position and floating around. With that being said, it's always exactly where it should be, and every time I ask a buddy if it's still sitting proper, they never tell me anything different. I just have a hard time with the lack of feeling so I don't wear it. Even tho I know I really should.

I don't wear a tek vest vest, but I do wear an "under the jersey" style motocross chest protector.

anybody wear a tek vest and an avy pack ?

Tons of guys do. Never heard anyone complain about the tekvest along with a pack. Now add a brace to that equation, and I'm not really sure. The brace goes UNDER my roost guard, but on the tekvest it would have to go over it, so the fit would be an issue.
