Narrowed it Down....2010 M8 Sno Pro or 2015 M8000 Sno Pro

just look up how many fix kits are out for the cat?
and how many the polaris has.....and as for the weight i have spent time on the axis and cat back to back... the weight is only in the riders head.
some of these guys must be the princess and the pea.

Like you said, if you're a newb, the '10 model will do everything you want and more with ease. And in a couple years unless you put on a ton of miles or beat it up, it'll still be worth 4K probably.
I still like riding my wife's M7 but I'd never pull it out of the trailer first over my Pro, or any new sled for that fact.
Not like you're gonna say "I hate snowmobiling cause I have to ride this "old" M8 though.

2016 Pro RMK is the Axys chassis.

Correct. But the add I posted is not a "Pro". Its a standard RMK.
In 16 and 17 the Pro is on the axys chassis, the standard rmk is still on the Pro-ride chassis. Kind of confusing, But still a killer buy. Eric

If it has the same motor as the Axys, I would still buy it over the Cat. Seems it is probably just like a '15 Pro Ride though.

I still preferred my '14 Pro to the '15 Doo and '16 Cat when I demo'ed the Cat. $8000 for a new one and all you have to do is burn up a weekend for a road trip? I'd probably do that too...

Regardless, if you plan to use it for sledding, get the newest one you can afford. They get better all of the time. The only way I would have thee 2010 is as a spare or if I wasn't REALLY into sledding.

9 years of a proven cat motor or another year of the poo guys saying we made it a season with the motor going POP.
and now we make on par HP.... congrats only took 7 years past cat and doo.

yeah and the cats have zero belt problems ,no steering post issues, no chain case problems , no snow intrusion problems, no turning radius issue's, a screwed together bulkhead. it's all rosy in cat town because they have a good Suzuki motor. there is alot more to reliability than just the engine , i can't tell you how awesome it was to spend a 120 bucks on a belt and have it last 2 rides , or be towed out with a broken steering post , or be towed out because you broke yet another crappy cat chain . there isn't a machine made that doesn't have it's issues but i have never been happier to be off cats , in fact i have not had a single breakdown since i started riding pros in 2011, nor have we towed out any in our group in the last 5 years.

18 hrs away.....dont think so. Not this guy.

probably could have it shipped for 300-400 or if you sweet talk the dealer they might be willing to send someone to meet you somewhere it with. We have a KTM dealership 5 hrs away and they will deliver to us, normally can work it into the purchase price.

The more I think about it the more the 2010 SnoPro appeals to me. Im a new rider. I wouldnt be able to do a newer one justice I dont think. Its cheaper and I can figure out from there what I want/need and then let the wife/kids take it over and buy a newer one at that point.

they are all fun to ride :face-icon-small-hap it's just when you start trying newer sleds it makes you want one of those too.

That's a good plan actually. .....good luck and have fun.

You will have a blast on the 2010, buddy rides a 09, I been on a 01 mountain cat 800 for past two years. I been having a great time on it. Yes I been looking at a newer sled, and upgraded this year.

Good choice

16 and 17 cats dont have any belt issues, chaincase issues, or turning radius issues. All those things were improved. Not sure what steering post issues they had other than changing out the $1 plastic bushings every 500 miles to get rid of the slop. And even though the bulkhead isnt cast, i havent seen much issues with it buckling.

Decided on the 2010 M8 SnoPro. Settled at $4800. Any mods I should look at right off the bat? I know the diamond drive bearing needs to be done....anything else?

A can is always at the top of my list for first mods, you lose a bunch of weight for the cheapest investment and it sounds cool:face-icon-small-coo
