My neighbor is only blind on the busy streets!

So this time of year I'm coming and going from the house a lil' more frequently during the week and I've noticed some strange things with my neighbor. Hopefully I don't offend anyone with a vision impairment cuz all I know about being blind is what I've read or seen(I know that sounds goofy!) we live in a quite neighborhood and she carries her blind stick like its a flag in a parade. She texts on her phone while walking and has no troubles navigating around the parked cars. Earlier this summer she was walking by and our English mastiff decided to let out a roar in the front yard it scared her so bad she went running down the street but she managed to look both ways for traffic at the intersection. Here's where it gets weird... As soon as she passes our house and hits the busy streets she's blind as a bat! The damn stick starts waving, she runs into sh#t and her head is doing the Stevie wonder thing! I guess what pisses me off and it probably shouldn't because I don't know her story is that I have a feeling she's milking the system and probably on some form of disability. Like I say... I know nothing about blindness. Maybe it's intermittent. If that's the case you would think she would just stay on our street where she can see!

Curious can you walk through your house when its pitch back without bumping into anything? I would be willing to bet you can just because you are very familiar with the layout and things are pretty much static meaning they are not always moving around. if one thought about you could draw some parallels between the scenario above to say a quiet neighborhood that you have lived in for quite some time.
I would also say that your would probably jump pretty good in that same situation if all of a sudden you heard a loud noise right near you that you didnt expect and you could probably move pretty quickly through your house to get away from that noise right. I would be willing to bet you could in that situation was well.

Now move to a dynamic space lets say a city street where everything is always in flux could you do the same thing? I would be willing to bet you would be run over in a second or maybe two.

second thing when you see someone using a blind persons cane do you purposely run over and stand in their way or do you give them a little more room then you normally would. Yes i believe you are right she must be milking the system and if you look into it deep enough you will find that Obama is 100% to blame for it

Funny thing with her is we park in different spots on the street in front of the house. She always moves around the vehicles like she has 20/20 vision. I know for a fact that she saw my mastiff. What scared her was a 200 pound dog with a large tongue was headed her way! He never leaves the yard and loves everyone but I don't think she was feeling the love! I yelled sorry while she was running but I think she's deaf! The weird part is that the busy street is all sidewalk and that's where she uses the cane. There's always cars/trailers parked in different locations by my house. Most of the time when she walks by she's busy texting on her phone!

This her on a scooter?

Sounds like you need to test your theory, I bet your big dog make a big pile.
Put a few of those said big piles on the side walk in a specific pattern and record the outcome.
For science of course:face-icon-small-win

My wife has said hello to her a few times when we've been out in the front yard while she's walking by. She gives my wife a dirty look and won't say nothin'. We don't have much snow here and I'm not leaving for revy till next week so I'll see if I can nab a pic if I'm home when she comes by

There goes the neighborhood! My wife doesn't wanna see me in a banana hammock let alone anyone else!

OK....I've been watching this for a bit w/o chiming in just for the humor, but now we NEED PICS ASAP!!!!!!!!! Old blind lady scammer with a stick, dog sh!t all over the place, banana hammock???WTF!!! NEED PICS!!!!:face-icon-small-coo

I haven't seen her in a day or two. I'm gonna be around the house this weekend so I'll be on the lookout! Hopefully pics/ video coming soon. She's not old though... I would guess 30's. Although I think she could eat corn through a picket fence!!!

I haven't decided the best way to get a video? One would normally not be concerned with a blind person seeing them but since I think her eyesight is pretty good maybe I should wear some camo and hide by the spruce tree in the front yard. Prob not a bad idea to eat a power bar either in case she decides to shove my face up my as#! Hopefully I don't end up on the evening news!!! Lmao....

The video will play even though it says it's not available. I'm hoping to get another video of her actually using the cane!

Yes I have to admit that is a funny way to hold a white Cane for sure. I believe there are several legal definitions of blindness. Maybe she has that eye disease that causes you to slowly go blind and she is getting used to using the cane because eventually she will have to. Not defending her here just throwing out ideas of what it could be. I cant remember what its called but you slowly loose your sight over time. I had a friend in high school who had it. By the time he was 30 he would be completely blind. I almost think that would be worse not never being able to.
There are also people who are legally blind but can see shapes and movement. Who knows but that is a little weird for sure. She did not even look before walking into the street. I am assuming that she did finally look when you quickly put your phone down but she was almost half way across.
