My knob broke off

Have a BCA Tracker DTS beacon, the knob broke off. Has anyone had this happen and send it in for repair, is it worth it or should it be sent to NFG heavan?
Also I'd like to know if others have had this happen it will help my decision on my next purchase.

are you talkin about the knob that you stick in the hole of the transciever? cuase i broke mine off in my SOS beacon....i just shoved a foreign object in the hole and taped her down....worked for a quick fix and never failed me, checked it every once in awhile to be on the safe side

Make sure to let us know what you find out. I would be very surprised if they don't repair that at a minimal cost. Would be good to know.

i see...well foreign objects would clearly not be the answer. should be some what of an easy fix though....shouldnt cost much

Send it in to BCA...they will probably replace it...but you might call first and ask about the new Tracker II coming out this winter...saw one at a get-together with Avalanche training peeps and it looks like it will be worth the upgrade.

BCA has great customer service, so I'm sure they will take care of you.

i personally think that looks like a cheap horrible beacon and way to turn it off and on i mean if your in an avalanche what if it gets turned off while in the avy i have a sos way better beacon in my opinion sorry but just the way it looks to me

I bought a new one from a dealer on snowest. It came with the knob broken off So he told me to send it back for a new one. And I havent seen him or the beacon sense.

It may be...but you dont turn your beacon when your in a avalanche. The button is not the search mode operation.
