Hey, been mostly lurking here for a while. Just wanted to introduce myself and show you my Switchback. Here's what I've done so far:

Garrett gt2554r
stage 4 gt25r reflash (19psi)
Devils Own water meth kit (pre/post turbo injection)
6-8" rox riser
Slydog powder hounds with bergstrom 8" skegs
HRP spindles
SLP and Mountain fit hoods Vents
2.5" custom exhaust/magnaflow muffler
Custom right side brake
Polaris series IV 144x2
22/46 gears (stock was 24/40)

I think thats all haha. Here's a pic under the hood, I estimate I'm making about 220hp (and a lot of tq)

Yeah, I love it. Just working on making it lighter and easier to handle now.
Finishing up my handlebars tonight. I'm waiting on my fly tapers to come in the mail

Also forgot to add skinz float plate and wrp running boards to my list.

the brake is from a GSX-R motorcycle, I'll try and get a better pic for you. I have no leftside brake anymore cause I have no left side hand :)

Update:

Bought 41" Holz a-arms and Fox Float 2's
Here is my weight shavings plan:
a-arms (3lbs)
Spindles (3lbs)
Skiis (2lbs)
Pipe/can (15lbs)
Lightweight battery (10lbs)
Diamond S hood (10lbs)
Fox Float 2's (6lbs)

thats a total of 40lbs off the front end. Bringing me down to est. 545 lbs.

woohoo, mailman came
I got an Innovate turbo timer and my a-arms/shocks are here. Also installed my new bars and riser, still swapping over my brake lever and hand guards. I'll be putting the controls on toggle switches in the console.

Anyone who asks if it is heavy, I say yes it is heavy.... is it too heavy? I say grow a set, I move this thing around with one hand and I'm only 190-200lbs.

I haven't added it up but rough estimate is $4000 on top of the cost of the sled. I've had the sled for 4 years, it was stock till this year.

Damn, this is exactly what I had planned to do to my sled. But my 2006 FST switchback was the biggest pile I had ever owned. But, i do think part of it was the dealer's fault. I was told by 3 other dealers that my dealer (Iron Mountain Powersports) was not tightening the nut that held the starter gear on all the way, thus the nut flew off (in the motor) and hurt a bunch of stuff. My sled got 3 turbos, 2 complete new engines, and 14 (yes 14) sets of plugs. 90% of the time when it got back from the dealer it needed plugs, so I quickly became very fluent at changing those plugs.

wow thats crazy! Lucky for me i don't need the dealer for anything, my dealer was also pretty useless. I was under the impression there was a recall on the starter gear as it would pretty much destroy the engine. Also plug fouling is a serious problem if the sled is not warmed up to 120+F before even touching the throttle. Many of us FST owners have changed over to NGK iridium plugs and eliminated fouling. In 4200 miles I've changed my plugs once, and that was just to put the NGK's in. Sorry to hear about you troubles. Lots of issues that can be fixed, but the FST's got a bad rep from them.

Looking forward to layin a beat down on some M1100T's next year :)

My original goal was to make the mountain sled polaris didn't. I wanted an awesome mountain sled that didnt require constant oil. But, now that is past me and I am now looking at making a sleeper 600 to rock the 800's in my group. I can come close now but just cant tie or get past them, it makes them laugh but hey, im on a 6 they are on 8s. So, out with the old in with the new, 685 kit from carl's next summer or maybe a turbo kit I havent figured it out yet.

Nice! I'd totally rock a pro 600 if I ever got rid of my fst. I think I'll always have a turbo though haha
