.....I have been a member of the Snowest forums since July of 02. I liked having a place to talk sleds with other "diehards" 12 months out of the year. I had talked to a few good people, but didn't establish any "tight" friendships over the last 5 years. Then I got on the max thread, and now am hooked up with a large group of great guys, and gals, and even have a ride plan to Revy next year. I have seen pics of their kids, know what they do for a living, and low and behold, have made some friendships. Meet people that live in the same town as I do, and have this thread to thank for that.
....I had 2500ish posts on the old site, and that was transfered over when the new site kicked off in November. Do the post numbers count?? I will answer that question this way, I sold some beacons last fall. The guy that bought 2 from me was out of state, and had been a member for a couple of years, and had posted 1000ish on the site. I felt like that was a solid way of knowing that he was a good guy, and sent the beacons out to him before I recieved payment. He got them before a weekend that he was riding, and I got my money. Would I have done that with someone that was a new member, or a low post count, NO.
.....For whatever reason, the "establishment" has deemed the max thread as something depremental to the site. Fine, in the rules we excepted their policies, I don't have a problem with that. But to take post totals away arbitarily is a mistake. It needs to be resolved. As far as I am concearned, no one broke, or bent any rules. IF the rules need to be changed, so be it, but please state the changed rules, the reasoning behind it, and let's move on.
....We have one of, if not the best, snowmobiling sites on the web. It sure would be a shame to have that legacy be gone.
