My Feelings on the Max Thread...

.....I have been a member of the Snowest forums since July of 02. I liked having a place to talk sleds with other "diehards" 12 months out of the year. I had talked to a few good people, but didn't establish any "tight" friendships over the last 5 years. Then I got on the max thread, and now am hooked up with a large group of great guys, and gals, and even have a ride plan to Revy next year. I have seen pics of their kids, know what they do for a living, and low and behold, have made some friendships. Meet people that live in the same town as I do, and have this thread to thank for that.

....I had 2500ish posts on the old site, and that was transfered over when the new site kicked off in November. Do the post numbers count?? I will answer that question this way, I sold some beacons last fall. The guy that bought 2 from me was out of state, and had been a member for a couple of years, and had posted 1000ish on the site. I felt like that was a solid way of knowing that he was a good guy, and sent the beacons out to him before I recieved payment. He got them before a weekend that he was riding, and I got my money. Would I have done that with someone that was a new member, or a low post count, NO.

.....For whatever reason, the "establishment" has deemed the max thread as something depremental to the site. Fine, in the rules we excepted their policies, I don't have a problem with that. But to take post totals away arbitarily is a mistake. It needs to be resolved. As far as I am concearned, no one broke, or bent any rules. IF the rules need to be changed, so be it, but please state the changed rules, the reasoning behind it, and let's move on.

....We have one of, if not the best, snowmobiling sites on the web. It sure would be a shame to have that legacy be gone.

I think alot of people are using that "Max Thread" as a way to gain post counts. I dont blame the moderators if they revoked peoples post counts because of it.;)

for most if not all it wasn't about the post counts it was a way of talking to others when we had nothing to add to other threads

...."IF" they feel they need to, that is their porogitive. What they need to do, is go throgh all posts, deem them as "Post Marking" and delete those as well. Like I stated eariler, no rules were broken, as far as I can read in the sign-up.

ITs true he did hate then he Found god.. (max site) I used the max site to tell people about my day, kinda of like a shrynk or something. I dont care much that it was moved. I would like to have atleast 200 or more of my post back for the purpose of selling and giving adive. You wouldn't take adive from a 2 year old would you? didn't think so. I got more Private messages about selling and buying and some other none related things, then i do post. But i can say ive made more than 16 "GOOD" friends.

Exactly. They didn't take post counts away from simply posting a time or two on that thread. It look like they took the post counts away from people who simply abused it. Like it or not they have the right to do that and on the old site I was victim of that type of thing do to my battles with others. I was put in the corner for a good amount of time. Even contacted the mod via telephone and explained a lot of things and everything turned out for the good.

Keeping this sort of thing up is only hurting a small amount of you because it's just fueling the fire that was started. Simply let this all go and start over, or call the mods, e-mail them and talk about your stuff person to person instead of airing all the dirty laundry for everyone to see. Take it from someone who has been down this road before. You won't win!

Actually bud I had about 50 post in there and they cut my count by 300 but not back to 0.

My view,

Post counts should be something that has merit, in the other forum, I had just under 10,000 posts, I deleted them and kept my join date. I think this has more credibility. History of dealings with other forum members gives me crediblity..

I think in my opinion, the reps should be archived, and shown to all who wanted to view the archives... under their personal profile.. If I want to see if a person is credible, say I wanted to buy something from him, "Kinda like e-bay", I could see if he was honest or not, or if this guy is just a crook.
I click on a person, I see that a certain post makes him an honest/dishonest person.... and not just because his close posting buddies think so either. You can make that call when you get to that bridge.

Or if that is too much maintenance,,, grt rid of the green/red dots/ or at least show who scalded you.
Something in that nature would stop all the abuse of some of the systems.

Right now a lot of things get abused.

If you want to tell someone he is a dork, PM him.

This max thread is the saddest thing I've ever heard! They can't even figure out where to put their threads anymore............this is GENERAL SNOWMOBILING! OMG! It's not even deleted it's just moved and someone on this thread even called it the max SITE, so go and post whore and chat about nothing your own SITE and leave Fouled Plug to people that don't just say POST, POST, one more, POST. and so on. That some good info there! LMMFAO I don't know who said it, but it was said that someone did business with someone elsa because he had a high post count.........OMG that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I know a guy that said a Snowester didn't think he knew sleds because he didn't have a high enough post count! A thousand chat posts about nothing really qualifys someone as an authority on anything.........NOT! Post count has nothing to do with how good of a person you are. I wonder how many posts Mother Teresa has, I bet it's not many...........we better not listen to her, lol. Get over it people and go to the trash bin!

.....I said it, Duner, right here in my original post. Cut and pasted it for ya. To me, years on the site, and post totals show a "Solidness" about someone, kinda like a credit score. Is it always dead on? No, but gives a seller some idea of who he is dealing with...
