My 800ho won't start hot!

Hi All

I've got a little problem with my sled. She won't start hot! She's a '04 summit 800 with a 1300 kms. She ran great all day sunday, on and off all day. Started no problem. When we got down to the truck I shut her down and she wouldn't start. Dead.

Next morning she starts first pull. We head up and at about 10 km my friend blows a belt so we stop n' shut er down. 10 mins later and she won't start, no spark, nothing. Tow her down to the trailer, get on the backup and have a great day. Back to the truck at the end of the day and she starts first pull.

I don't get it? Anyone have any idea? Coil? Plug leads? Mpem? I don't quite know where to start.

Thanks

Chelle

my yamaha did the same thing it was a bad coil in the stator. I could not figure out what was going on it only did it sometimes. One day i was riding with my friend
who rides skidoo's and it started acting up it would run fine untill you shut it off then
not start (no spark no nothing) untill it cooled off, my friend said his skidoo did the same thing replace the stator. I did and know it works perfect

The carb heaters are not on.

The rings are still stock but even so it should still work? If the rings start to fail then it would just loose compression, no?

Still a ?

Thanks for all the suggestions, please keep em coming.

Sounds like the carb heaters to me too but..... my buddy had a similar problem about a month ago and it was his fuel pump, ran good out of the gate and then just quit when it got hot on him.

Is there definately no spark when trying to restart hot?? If so you can eliminate carb heaters, look electrical. Sounds electrical to me.

So I get Sugar back from the shop tomorrow, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

She was really sick. Crank seals at both ends and intake. New rings and she's good to go, well plus a mortgage payment later.

I was a little fooled because the engine bay was covered in oily reside. When I went to look for the cause I found two exaust bolts missing. I figured, wrongly that the oily mess was from the exaust but no. It came from the crank seals. My sled only has 1200 kms so keep an eye out.

I'm glad that I stopped riding when I did cause it could have been a whole lot worse.

Cheers

ring issues lmao why would it do do that only at 1300km i got over 3000 miles on my HO with orginal motor. there was issues on the tether stub they were faulty on some sleds up here then your sled sometimes would have spark and other times it wouldnt so before you go spend money on getting a stator or a new computer consider your tether stub. :beer;
