Muffler on a D-max

I have a 07 Classic D-max and i want to cut the muffler out, Will it throw any codes if i do? I think if i leve the cat in i should be fine. i dont want to have the computer reflashed so i am leving it in. The muffler should be ok to take out right?

Yes, you can run without a muffler on the D without throwing codes. I ran my D without a cat and muffler and it was very annoying. Needless to say the MBRP muffler went back on after one test drive.

I do throw a P0401 code. Which does not turn on the check engine light. But I can clear it with my PPE tuner. Another option is to add a fingerstick and that will block the code. Go to dieselplace.com and they have a ton of info on this topic.

Why was it annoying? It was so freaking loud and sounded like consistant tire squeeling but at a higher pitch. I am currently running a 4" MBRP turbo back with the muffler in my '06 LBZ and it sounds great. Quiet while at speed, and when the hammer is down, it is nice and throaty.

i made a muffler delete pipe for my 03 dirtymax, factory no kitty, just pipe from turbo back. it sounds really good imo, it is very loud but i just light peddle it around the popo. a good drop in EGT's to.

close buddy has an 07. Has Edge Glass-Pack, Edge single pipe with no cat. Sounds sick! He also has a lot of Edge parts unda da hood.

I put 5in straight from turbo back and didn't get any codes, but I put the finger stick in anyway because i blocked off the egr. Mine is a 05 lly an its not annoying in my opinion, sounds good.

i have an 07' classic as well, i started off with a MBRP cat back system with no muffler, still very quite just a slightly deeper tone.

latter decided to put on the down pipe and get rid of the cat so right now im running the 4" MBRP down pipe back with no muffler and no cat and i love the sound. quite going down the road and around town until you get on it.....wow:D

i to was worried about throwing a code so i did some research and this is what i found out: in your glove box there is a list of codes (i have no idea what most of them are) but you need to look and see if you have an FE9 code, mine was in the 4th row of codes 3 or 4 lines down......i think. anyway, this code means that your truck isn’t a federal emissions standard truck which means you wont have the same wiring for emissions as a non FE9 truck.......i had this code, i think most of them do.

haven’t thrown any codes, and my only regrett is that i didnt do it sooner.
good luck
