Hey all, this is my first post here. I’m trying to find out some info for making my 07 Attak GT into a long track and I was hoping that I could find the answers here from guys with experience on mtn sleds.
My riding is done up in Maine, riding 100% off trail. The snow isn’t crazy deep but averages 3 - 5 ft of pack and the snow is usually pretty firm. I am looking for more floatation for when I’m out looking for moose antler sheds as I have to go out pretty far and I usually end up getting stuck with my 136 5 -10 times a day…it's getting real old.
My first thoughts on this project would be to either pick up an Apex Mtn skid or a Nytro MTX skid and track and then put both into the sled. I realize the Nytro has a 15" wide skid and that may be a problem, so that’s why I was considering the apex mtn skid. My problem is that 162" is a bit longer than I really need. I'd like to go somewhere around 151". I also am planning on taking whatever track I but and cutting the lugs down to 1.5” for when I have to cross lakes or ride down banks from road to road so I don’t constantly smoke the slides.
Couple of questions:
- Will the Apex Mtn skid bolt up to my stock tunnel, provided I change the drop brackets to the apex mtn units?
- Will the Nytro MTX skid bolt up to my stock tunnel, provided I change the drop brackets to the apex mtn units?
I assume other than the track and clutching changes required, all I would have to do is change out the drivers to the appropriate units.
Finally, I am looking for 2 complete rear skids, tracks, drivers, and drop brackets if anyone here has removed them from their sleds for new aftermarket units. Id prefer new or nearly new take off's. I have 2 identical sleds I’d like to setup the same.

Thanks,
Joe
