Mtn Horse handeling question

How does the mtn horse handle on crusted over snow? I was riding today on snow that was hard on top for about the top2" but not quite hard enough to stand on and I could hardly stay upright. if I tried to turn the ski broke though so I had to go straight and slow and way back on the bike.. anyone else experience this?

What ski do you have?

The skinny Gen I ski sucks in most places off trail. The Gen II (10" wide) is much better for floation but pushes on the trail.
Last season the best ski we had was a 2Moto Gen II with the additional shark fin and side runners. It worked ok on the trail and good in the powder.

BEST NEW SKI!

Check out the new ski that is now out the Soldiers of Tomorrow are racing it and it is the best we have ever ridden it works on both the trail and powder without giving up anything!

How does the curve ski do in powder
. Seems to me its more of a race ski then a mountain ski.looks like it might lack a lot in floatation compared to the Simmons. I know mostly where we ride, we try and get off the trail as soon as possible... just wondering if you gain enough in handling to make up for the floatation. How wide is the curve ski anyway????

Take a look at www.soldiersoftomorrow.com check out thd pictures page and the sequence shots. The rider is a guy that had been riding about 5 minutes and it is in powder conditions. It is a great ski as it is 7 1/2 inches in thd front and 7 in the back creating a lift effect while maintaining ski integrity and steering, unlike the simmons that continually flexes and comes out of geometry.

After sicking the MH several times up to the number plate ( I am not the only one i'm sure) I also wonder if that ski is big enough for the real deep stuff.

All our MT horse guys have the same problem.

I am watching this sport unfold still on two skis at this point .

Will buy on next year when you guys have figured it all out for me.

This is why I think the gen 2 is the ticket for right now, it has the floatation to keep the nose up. The Gen 2 has to be modded to side hill with it though. I am going to be running my modded gen 2 this weekend in what seems to be shaping up to 4' of fresh so we will see how it does.

go to promoto billet.com they have the solution. All of the guys i ride with have these and it takes all the white knuckle out of snowbiking. It is the fastway ski mod.

That is the beauty of the Curve XS It doesn't take a mod it is dialed from the beginning with the ski and it's produced geometry. It is funny to hear the white knuckle rude term as all thd guys that have tried it so far respond the same no white knuckles death grip and a great ride all day. Again this with no additional mods or add ons that arent a factory design or install.

I have never been over the handle bars with the Curve ski so you know it floats in the pow.

I don't care if you have a sheet of plywood as a front ski if you ride these things hard you go over the bars. Even with the gen 2 on I went over the bars multiple times but the difference in floatation is very noticeable and after relocating the skags to the outside edges it handles just as good or better than the gen 1 on the trail.

Floatation in the powder is directly related to buoyancy, which means the larger footprint of the ski the more floatation you have. This is simple un arguable physics. As stated before the best most cost effective option for powder performance right now is the gen 2 with some garage modification.

what mount

I have an arctic cat simmons mount, it that what works with a timbersled kit??? I built my own ski and it works amazing so far. It it will work for you guys to mount up i will ship it out so you can try it for free.. it is 10 inches wide so it does float but best of all is it really works well on the trail.. your call for a free trial..

ROCK THE ONE SKIS!!!!!!!!!!
