This info is probably obvious but....I talked with a Forestry guy with the Yakima Indian Reservation today. He told me that they are starting or planning to start some form of patrols at the southside, the Trout Lake area. Mainly education but of course for their good reasons I'm sure. I asked about other areas of focus and he said that is where they are sort of focusing on.

How do you do it now? I am need of a better map outlining some of those areas. Mainly Potato Hill area and as you mentioned east side, I don't think its ok to go. The guy I talked to was not very familiar with the Potato Hill area.

Before to long the Crackima tribe will claim to own the entire mountain and then next week it will be all of central washington and then the whole state.Bunch of federally funded drunk poachers.

I wonder who is getting the last laugh now

Saw the permit required signs last weekend and turned around...how does one get a permit anyway?

It's a permit you can get from "the nation"--but--if you are able to get one, it is only good if you have someone that is a member of the Yakima tribe with you. Found this out from the forestry dept. Make some friends or make some family.

Buddy's of mine got a $100 ticket on potato hill about ten years ago and they said next time they would take the sleds. They flag you down like they need help.

Guess if your riding back there the answer would be not to stop.I have done a bunch of work way back in the reservation over the years and not saying that we have done it but.......there is some great riding to be had around Kessler Ranch and Mccormick Meadows.Real good boondockin' and some insane climbing....from what I hear.

I was there yesterday. Not terrible up high, very warm. Plenty of snow to go whereever. I need that tour to, I just don't know where I'm going up there. I can't be sure where it's ok or not, I think I know though. Basically the good riding is where I can't go--it would seem. Saw some cat and bear tracks.

here's how we get away with riding on the reservation (Klickitat meadows area). carry a bottle of old grandad in an easily accesable pocket. when the injuns give chase, throw it out. stops 'em dead in their tracks.
