MPI Turbo

Had a chance to take a 180 MPI turbo Nytro out last weekend in some realy deep and fresh powder (50 to 70 cm), all I could say was wow.... what a nice set up. The throttle respond was nice and crisp, no turbo lag what so ever, just pure fun and impressive to ride getting on and off throttle going up or down hill or in tight area around trees at any time and any where. The sled has a 174 CE track that made it climb anything or everywhere I want it to go, Zbros front suspension that handle realy good side hilling or boon docking. If you have a chance to try a MPI turbo do it, you will be very happy.

Im thinking about installing one in my 2011 162. How is the install? Is anyone having any problems with this kit? I really want 240 to 270 hp is that possible on pump gas?

I had a battle with a boulder yesterday it won. my S/C baby is going to the hospital for a while. Hope she isn't totaled.:face-icon-small-sad:brokenheart:

Around 8gs with outlaw install and all there goodies and trail tank I'm sure you caould do it cheaper I just don't have time and Dustin does a excellent job no issues with the 2012 yet and he had my 09 sc running strong.

MPI as a upgrade kit to bring it up to 220/240+(I could be wrong on these number) pump gas, it should be available shortly or if not rite away, the beauty of it all is that there is no welding and cutting of the exhaust on the MPI , very clean set up and easy to install. I had a chance to try the upgrade kit with head shim and it works really well.... I'm thinking it has around 270hp cause it gave my turbo apex (Mcx 290) a whoop a$$ spasking and I run my apex at 15lbs of boost :face-icon-small-sho

My mpi stage 2 was a lot of fun I did everything I wanted to do on it I ran 15lbs of boost and just never really got the rush I was looking for test road one of outlaws 270 kits last year and my arms were sore from hanging on and there is no lag and a lot better fuel Econ with the turbo, I think for the riding I like to do boon docking and playing Im happier on the turbo but could do it all on the sc too.

I guess I was just looking for the wow factor and I found it

This is there tubo system that I am talking about, as far as the fuel economy is realy good. I know what you mean about the wow on the 270 kit, it's realy fun and impressive.... that's how the upgrade kit felt like.

Turbo is the way to go. I have ridden mpi supercharged nytro and apex, they are smooth but dont pull your arms and give you that rush like a turbo does. All you have to do is decide how much boost you want to run. The pump gas turbo from push is an absolute hoot to ride at 9-10 pounds. it pulls suprisingly hard for only 9lbs. I have not ridden the Mpi turbo but i would think it would be similar at the same boost not sure tho because its a different turbo. 5 or 6lbs where they come set from factory is not enough IMO. The push kit retails at $3295 so its a good value.

What are guys doing for snow around the intake? Do I need to build a 90 degree kit for the deep days to point the filter straight up? It does not ice up, this is snow that is building up and reducing air flow into the turbo.

We got into some deep stuff yesterday and after a few turns the tunnel and intake would be covered with snow and I was losing RPMs because it could not breathe. Clear the snow - back to normal performance.

I have not yet done the foam removal mod that MPI shows on the website, will that help too?

The kit rocks - I was seeing ~9100RPMs down the trail yesterday, which is up from 8860 RPMs on the first ride (I have about 300 miles on the sled now).

Foam removal

I noticed no difference with removing the foam on the intake. In fact i think its worse, the prefilter material kept sticking to the metal filter pluging just as bad. I agree the intake needs to be addressed, it plugs constantly causing it to go way rich because the motor isn't getting any air. Still have low end sputter that i can't clean up. The sled really runs well around 8 LBS on pump gas at 7500 ft.

Thx -

Has anyone grabbed some radiator hose and built a 90 degree intake? My guess is that would work based on all the MCX kits that I see doing that?

intake

ran into the same problem with the filter plugging up....runs terrible when it ices over....we took a 90* rad hose from a cat (tractor) and turned it up....also run a second prefilter over top of the mpi one works wonders as you can just brush it off and it keeps the moisture off the mpi prefilter and the foam.
