mpi stage 2 dies when hiting deep powder

Skyler, I just called and got a message that said you where closed for thanksgiving? Sounds like you guys update your voice mail message about as often as I do! I will try back next week.
Thanks

It is a paired problem. The intake does work a lot better when relocated above the clutch. With a rear exit I have not seen an intake problem with the stock location, but with the intake relocated it breathes fresh air and produces better long pull power.

No matter how we sliced it, we could not get a tunnel dump to work right in the deep fluff. On hardpack or trail it was fine, but hit the pow and no go.

what i did was drill a 2, 1/4 hole on the other side of the sled and got some fuel filler neck house and some 2 1/4 pipe and a 90 elbow i actualy moved the intake out the hole in the side cover and it woke it up a lot getting fresh air now and its happy

This is as we suspected,I think MPI needs to re-evaluate it intake location. Many of us haven't surmised this outcome, but proved it.

I would agree on the air intake. had the same problem. Had to get the intake out from underneath the hood so it could get fresh air. once i did that it solved my problem. I also have a tunnel dump exhaust with no problems.

yeah my tunnel dump exhaust is working good no problems othere then its a lil loud not in the snow im going to try my intake mod today see how it works any i deas on a good filter to run

Just got back from Revy riding in DEEP POW for 5 days and have this same problem...MPI answered the phone Friday morning even though they were closed (thx!!)...without knowing anything but my symptoms, they asked if I had an under tunnel exhaust, which I do...

I'm going to make an intake relocation AND extend my exhaust out of the tunnel, just in case.

Very frustrating to waste 5 EPIC days in Revy chasing a problem like this.

where you the guy that closed it in with beer boxes its very easy to fix the problem i really dont think its the exhaust you change that filter you will be set

Yes, that was me...we thought with the mesh hood I was getting powder through the intercooler and on the filter, but that obviously was not the problem...

I'm going to relocate the intake, and exit the exhaust from the muffler to the side of the tunnel.

Sounds like that is going to be the key for you, the tunnel ex does cause most if not all the problems from our own testing. Yes relocating the intake will help but does not fix all the problems with a under tunnel ex. We are making a intake for the stage 2 that relocates it just above the clutch , if you turned the intake up you can run it thorugh the hood, we do not reccomend the intake above the hood because it pack with snow and the blower will suck snow and ice and will cause damage to the blower. With the intake above the clutch you will get more air and you will not run the risk of damage to your blower. If you are wanting the intake to relocate it to just above the clutch please contact me here at MPI 1-888-649-4609, Thanks Skyler
