MPI guys

I have talked directly with Mac @ MPI and Travis @MPI last winter. Anyhow the sled runs great in the parking lot quarter mile up the trail it goes to chugging and almost acting like its missing. get back to the parking lot and dink around and adjust, runs great head up the trail $h!t again. 4 trips to the snowies at 460 miles one way. A 4k s/c and it don't work isn't much fun. It also starts throwing daxh codes. But noone can find any probs with the codes.

Not much in details here but I had a problem with my Gems or computer controller on my Apex....took a couple trys but Jared at MPI sent me a new one and the sled was totally different (good) after that. Good luck....once it works it should be a riot to ride!

I don't really know what to give you for details. The air fuel is constantly changing never stays adjusted it seems like. Are the gems you are referring to the mapping boxes.

Yep the fuel management computer controller. They said mine tested good the first time I sent it in and they updated it with the new programming and I still had running issues. Mine were not quite what you are explaining but it would idle just fine and run OK at WOT but everything in between was a mess. They sent me a new controller and wow...what a difference. Best of luck.

Have you tried making a fresh air intake? These take forever to warm up too, so setting the box up for when it's cold will result in failure when it's warmed up.

The sled is in the process of getting the intake moved out. And like mtnmxr said it runs great at an idle and everything in between is messed up. Yes it has tors. It throws codes constantly. take it to the dealer and they cant find any troubles.

I noticed 2 guys from MPI are posting on Snowest now...Heath and Tyler. They seem to want to change the perception of the customer service experience at MPI. You might put together your list of codes and problems and see if they can solve them. Since your dealer has tested and come up with nothing, I would be supicious of the controller box just based on my limited experience with my initial running issues and then the cure based on a new box. There were certainly issues with the boxes getting moisture inside and causing problems. Totally Yamaha website has a bunch of good boost info but not that much on the Phazer that I have seen.

Also, I have heard Tom Hartman is a really good guy to work with so that would be another good resource.

Here is a pic of my intake. i suspect this will be of great improvement. I ran it a bit last year with the side panel off and it mad a difference. The way it comes smashes the filter. It is unbelievable that it would be suggested to run it this way.

I haven't tried mine yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

That is the same set up I made last year,it works great, I didn't even run the sled with out the fresh air intake, it just didn't make any sense.

I posted that b4 you guys posted here. I seen a different post about MPI you two were posting in.

It does look that you and Heath are working pretty hard at it.

How come nobody likes their s/c. It fits my boondocking style better than a turbo. Dont get me wrong I love high marking. But since I totalled my mod viper and got talked into this. Which I do like the phazer, just a bet weak for me. The high mark isn't gonna be mine, but the new trail through the trees could be.

I cant remember my codes for sure. I believe I would get a 11 and 12. or 11 and 13 or 12 and 13. Also 25 and 26 or 25 and 27. Some sensors, or injectors or fuel rail problems I believe. Sorry Im not 100% on the codes I just know the they go together. Right and left.
