I didnt see anything in the clutching section so im hopeing to get some help here. I live in Fargo, ND and im curious about what would be a good clutching setup here and for when i travel out west. I ride around here a little bit and will make some trips out to Cooke City, Big Horns, Island Park etc. What are some good clutching setups

2008 Yamaha nytro 153, MPI 180 turbo

Thanks in advance

I bought my Nytro with the stage 2 supercharger already on it. It only had 150 miles on it and was not set up right at all. I was gettting about 6800 rpms. I went to MPI in Utah and they said to bring in the clutch and they would help me weight it properly. When they looked at it the previons owner had put a kit in it form one of the high performance companies, the problem was the slope on the weights were for a 2 stroke sled and were not set for four stroke power. MPI said they had had the best luck with the stock weights since they were the right slope. I had to find some stock weights I then took them to them again and they helped me properly weight the clutch. It now revs up to the reccomended 9000 rpms and feels awesome. My track speed is now to fast so I am swapping my 153 stock track to a 162, 2.5 inch extreme track with Arctic Cat M8 skid. hopefully that will be the ticket. To answer your question besides through my story I would stay with stock weights and call MPI the manufacturere of your pump kit and ask them what weights to install and where to set your secondary spring.

I have ridden constechs sled and I will agree that his sled when he got it was clutched so badly it was crazy. That being said I don't agree about the two stroke style weights. The ramp on the stock weights is so flat that it does not promote smooth and fast up shifting and downshifting.

If you have stock weights you can stay with them and they will work fine but don't discount what the ramp shape on a two stroke style weight can do for you.
