MPG Question

I am wondering abot fuel mileage on different sleds. We rode Hatchers yesterday- about 40 miles, mostly WFO. RMK 500 w/144 x 2 burned 7.5 Gal = 5.3 mpg; 800 ski-doo w/153x2 about 9 gal = 4.4 mpg. Both are carberuated sleds. Are the newer sleds doing any better in the deep stuff? Just looking for some numbers for comparison. Thx

The newer "Fuelie" sleds are getting better mileage for the most part, especially when it comes to using oil injection. It is almost scary how little oil some of them use. That being said there is no such thing as mileage when you have deep snow and your wide open all day;) On those days I don't care (actually look forward to) burning my full tank and my spare can strapped to the back. If you are really lucky you need to go back to the trailer for even more gas!

4 to 5 MPG sounds about right for WFO in deep snow.

It all depends on conditions: My sled (03 700 RMK 151x2) will get about 10-11mpg on a long trail ride where I'm holding a steady speed (50-55 mph at 6800-7000 rpm). I go the 90 miles from Cantwell to Maclaren on about 8 gallons. In the powder and playing in the hills I get about half that.

Good news is your sleds are normal for the conditions

Yep, I have gotten as bad as 27 miles to a 12 gallon tank wfo in deep deep powder wfo in the mtns. I have got as good as 100 miles when on a trail behaving myself cuz I knew I had alot of miles to cover. So you are right in the ballpark.

My Nytro WFO in deep(chest deep) snow will get around 7-8 mpg. Fewest miles I've seen on a tank were 48 mi. and the gas tank is only 7 gallons. Most of the time I can average around 60-65 miles to a tank. Now I have a 10 gal. tank, can you say 70 miles of WFO riding :D The mpg and not having to buy oil make this thing dirt cheap to ride.
