MPEM reprogramming where to go?

I need to have my MPEM reprogrammed and I am having difficulties finding someone in the U.S. to do it.

I was given the following email address and name to contact in the "Racing Dept.":

"Jeff"
Jean-Francois Leclerc
Acheteur/Planificateur Pièces de courses
Race Parts buyer/Planner
BRP
Tel 450.532.5073
Fax 450.532.5076
jean-francois.leclerc@brp.com

I emailed him and he forwarded my questions to Yvon Petit in the "Systems Development" dept.

Yvon Petit
Technicien développement des systèmes
Systems Development Technician
Tel./Phone (450) 532-5100 poste/ext. 5803
Téléc./Fax (450) 532-6175
e-mail yvon.petit@brp.com

Yvon told me to send it to him at the Racing Dept. in Valcourt and that the address was in the Racing Handbook. My book is a U.S. book and references the Racing Dept. in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Does anyone know who I can contact in the U.S. to have my MPEM reprogrammed (Ski-Doo or aftermarket performance shop)? This is turning out to be much harder than it should be

I finally spoke to a human at BRP and after several redirects, I think I have gotten the correct contact information.

MPEM Reprogramming (SVC Dept.)
Tom Lawrence
(715)847-6842
Ski-Doo Racing Dept
7575 Bombardier Court
Wausau, Wisconsin
54402-8035
tom.lawrence@recreation.bombardier.com

I left him a voice mail and hope he calls me back. If this is the correct guy to contact, I will post the information so everyone doesn't have to go thru the same hassles I did.

My exspierence with Tom is you have to keep calling him back, hes sometimes an *** to work with!! Just be stern with him!!! Just thought I'd let ya know!!!:o

Thanks everyone for your replies...

I received an instruction letter on where to send your MPEM for recalibration and how much it costs which is now $85. (see attachement)

I also see that the Canadian customers pay a difference of $15.00?? BRP are still a collection of Douche Bags. Some things will never change!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is pretty bad seeing that they are a Canadian company and that the Canadian dollar is pretty much equal to the U.S. dollar now....

I called him and left a voice mail and then sent him an email and he emailed me back with the service request form and said he got my voice mail so he must be???

I was told that if you have your MPEM reprogrammed you lose the safety retard feature that the summits have. Sounds like your better off having the dealer advance your timing for you...plus it's 1/2 the price. Or get a timing key.

Why would you lose this feature? Wouldn't that be part of the calibration program? If it's not part of the cal program, than it shouldn't be over written and it should remain intact.....just my interpretation of how this all works.

When they recalibrate it, it should be completely identical to the model of snowmobile that you are having it programmed too. It that sled had this feature than you should have it after the reprogramming.

milehighassassin,

Do you know how to contact the race dept? This is the problem I am running into.

Thanks

I don't. I have had no reason to contact them. I was just reporting what I have read. I think they charge around $50? I would try Doo-Talk. When I get more time I will see if I can find the thread where I read the information.

Maybe the TTabs thread?

Hey man I hear ya but only the summit models has the retard feature and the race dept. is mainly for reprogramming race sleds.
I don't know why you lose the feature but Big John told me this so you know there was some testing done to this theory.

Snowsnob,

If Big John is claiming it...I guess we should believe it. Not sure why taking a calibration program that is made for a Summit and putting it on the MPEM will override the feature though???

milehighassasin,

Not sure who you are referring too....who left you negative feedback calling you a douche??? It wasn't me....I was asking for peoples comments and opinions on this subject so I have no issues with your comments. FYI, if you look furhter up the thread, you can see where I provided the information for contacting the Race Dept. and they are now charging $85 ($100 Cdn) to recalibrate.

Snowsnob,

Do you know what the "retard feature" is for???? Cold starts...high altitude riding????? What am I at risk of if I don't have this feature?? Aren't the MXZ and Summit motors pretty much identical with the exception of the jetting and timing curves???

The MPEM recurve does not effect anything related to "safety modes".. The only thing modified is the timing curve and the rev limiter, at least in my recurve program..
