Moving to Santa Rosa

OK, I don't know much about the geography of northern CA.

I may be making a move from Colorado to Santa Rosa for work, as I need work BAD. How far is it to any riding areas? Am I going to have to give up on this sport until I move back to Colorado or is there a chance I can keep on truckin.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Golden State.

This snow season is really the worst I have seen in the past 8-10 years.

From Santa Rosa you will probably head over to Sacramento and onto the 80 up into the Sierra Mountains and be in one of the best spots for sledding in California.

Around Truckee California. Most riding is done above 6000 feet in California , typically 7500-9500 feet

I was in Santa Rosa yesterday and it took me 2 1/4 hours to get there (Lincoln)..So you can count on about a 3 1/4 hours drive to snow country from Santa Rosa..

Santa Rosa

Lived in Rosa for my first eighteen years, you will really like the town and area. The drive to the mountains isn't that bad-3.5 hours to truckee in perfect conditions, the traffic in S.R sucks on Friday trying to get out of town, and from SR to hwy 80 there is no real easy way. Hwy 12 is shortest but you have to go through Sonoma which sucks, or hwy 128 Past sears point raceway which is always slow. Anyways, beautiful area and the drive isn't that bad. PM me with any other questions you have. Ryan:)

I live in San Francisco .... I try to get up to Tahoe area every weekend. Anywhere from 3-4hr weather pending( leave early to try to beat the Sac traffic). Well worth the drive!

You have any questions regarding riding areas, PM me ...

Lived in Castle Rock for 3 years and moved to Reno... little bit closer opposite direction same riding areas... you'll love it... and the people

Thanks!

Thanks for all the info, excited about Santa Rosa, will be out there Monday-Thursday for interview & so on...

I can deal with having to drive to get to ride, I've just been spoiled for so long with the ride-in/ride-out conditions where I live now.

As for the Friday thing, I'll be working healthcare so I will hopefully have some days off during the week from time to time and may be able to hit it midweek and avoid some of the madness.

Thanks again and looking forward to the visit and potential move to the area.
