moving to casper this winter

Casper mountain will be the closest but doesn't always get enough snow to ride. The Big Horns, Togwotee and the Snowies will be 100 to 200 miles.

I'm going to to be moving to Casper this winter probably after the new year. What riding areas are closest to Casper?:face-icon-small-ton

You can trail ride on casper mountain, but the thing to keep in mind is that 2/3ds of Casper Mountain has been shut off to sledding in the last 15 years or so. Casper mountain is, for all practical purposes, a suburb of Casper. Not an awful lot of off-trail riding opportunity there, and its real easy to wind up on someone's land. It rarely gets enough snow to do anything but trail ride .... Doesn't stop folks from sledding up there though :)

I think most casper folks either hit up the snowies or madres as that is usually what has the most snow within the shortest drive.

The snowies are quite nice to ride out of the saratoga side, it isn't the epic cluster f*ck that green rock is.

That's why I ride on Muddy Mountain ;)

Casper Mt and Muddy Mt are great because they are right out the back door. Easy to get to for an after work, weekend or night ride. We had a blast last year on full moon nights just cruising around. The real fun is at Togwotee though. Ride for days on end and never see the same trail or meadow if you want. Well worth the trip! The Wind Rivers out of Lander are nice too when the snow is good.
