mountain rider

i trailer 2 hrs to the MOUNTAINS every weekend , unload @ 10200 feet and ride up to 12500 . to ME mountain riding is by far the best ,could ride closer but not great , just want to say its only MOUNTAIN RIDING FOR ME !!!!!!

Live in the mountains and ride in the mountains, no groomed trails here !

I'm not talking groomed trails. If I rode those eastern style groomed regulated trails I would probably have waaaaay too many speeding tickets:rolleyes: The stuff I ride around home is just cutlines, pipelines, powerlines etc. You can actually have a bit of fun when you find some untracked snow. And still some good times with friends too

I just think its funny, some guys will ONLY ride the mountains, yet they only ride like 4 days a year.

P.S. you guys that live right in/near the mountains suck!

theres 2 types of sledding, real sledding(mountains) and burning time(flatlands)

i love to ditchbang and blast around the field, but thats when i want to do something in the afternoons. i can load up and drive 10 miles and go sledding in the steep and deep if i want to.

for a while we had enough snow in the vally i could ride down the road to one trail in, so yeah, i could ride from the house into some sick places.

yah !!! it really sucks being able to ride out of your yard, straight up a mountain, maybe I should move to town,

There is only one time in my entire life I have ever ridden a snowmobile and not been on a mountain, and that was last year ... it snowed so much in town we were actually riding sleds the same hills right outside town that we normally are riding quads and dirt bikes on.... Lots of jumps, it was pretty sweet actually :)

live at about 8,000ft and ride from the house up to 11,500ft at the highest point.......... hard to go ride flat land since it is at least 250+ miles away from me......... and doesn't seem to be too appealing to me.........

mountains 100% there are still plenty of safe areas to ride. you just have to use your head., and for me that can be a problem:) if i didnt ride in the mountains i would find a different sport.

Exactly! Just use your head! Stay away from the risky slopes, even 30 -40 degree ones, when the the danger is high. Stay with your group....nothing is a bigger pet peeve than when dudes take off and you can't find them for 15-30 min or longer. What is gonna happen to you if you are caught in a slide and no one sees it! DUH! One person needs to lead and keep the group together....too many chiefs causes problems and the group splits. Don't sit at the bottom of a slope and watch people climb! Another pet peeve! If you are gonna sit and watch get in a safe position. Don't hit the hill at the same time.....common sense peeps! You don't have to sit home and play on the flats....just be smart.

100% mountain riding, except for the roads into the riding areas! Wouldnt waste 12 grand on a sled to ride lakes and trails!

the thing that most people dont realize is that just because you are not on a mountain doesnt mean that you are blazing down a trail.......there is awesome riding that is not on a "mountain." or in the mountains for that matter....300-340" of snow a year with a 1000 vertical feet surrounded by trees makes for some pretty awesome boondockin' . look at the UP of michigan for example....there are a number of areas there that will get a 40-50" dump and have some rediculous tree riding. dont get me wrong riding in any mountain range is spectactular but it speaks ignorance when people think that if you arent in the mountains its not worth riding.....

Agreed! I love to boondock in the trees! To me that shows the true skill of a rider, not point and shoot....anyone can do that! I love the mountains, don't get me wrong....but I hit all the good areas with powder and trees before I go to the steep areas. If I ride with people that don't like that than I don't go with them again.

Decided to run the trails this weekend because I don't thing you can make the right choices this year here. It killed me not to hit the mountains but that what it is going to be, trail riding in the mountains. Can't afford to loose any more friends.

mountains 100% to me climbing the hills is the only reason to ride a sled. in my opinion having a sled just to ride the trails is like buying a airplane and just drive it back and forth on the runway and never fly it. i feel bad for all you guys that dont have mountains to ride.
